This demonstrates once again why the RATs are in power and we're not. RATs rally around their candidate no matter how he or she did. If Sanford was a RAT, this would be a resume enhancer for him (ideally for the RATs, Sanford would have cheated on his wife with another man and come out of the closet)

I'm no fan of this sleezebag, but if the choice was Sanford or Stephen Colbert's commie RAT sister, I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for him. If I lived in S.C. right now, I'd be knocking on doors for him simply to keep the RAT out.

One thing I can't figure out, is how he won the runoff. In the initial crowded field, it's easy to see how Sanford came in top simply due to name ID, even if most GOP voters voted against him. But when it was a one on one race of Sanford vs. another conservative who's NOT tainted, it was a no-brainer who to pick.

Really? I don't, nickcarraway. You seem to have a very different memory from most of us. I remember freepers gushing over Sanford before the affair, they couldn't makeup their mind whether he or Jim DeMint walked on water more. Sanford was considered a conservative hero, and now those same freepers are prepared to sit on their hands and let the marxist RAT win because Sanford is sleezy in private. Sheer idiocy.

Go back and look. Sanford had some supporters. But I remember a sizable group warning against him. Basically, they said he was a nampy pamby, limp-wristed, unwilling to fight, give up, conservative. There were some specific issues they talked about, but it was long enough ago, I don't remember. You don't remember all the issues people were critical of him for? There were Freepers from his state who had specific issues with him.

But, all that said, it doesn't really matter how he voted back then, because that's what Jenny was telling him what to do, and she isn't telling him what to do. So the relevant question is, how would the political consultant or whoever is telling him what to do vote? Do you really think that person is a conservative?

A ton of liars have been saying Sanford was a RINO or even that will be a RINO, BECAUSE of this. I only recall him going off the reservation on one thing, some environmental thing as Governor. That’s it.

I hope the people in the district aren’t so myopic, and that they don’t factor in nonsense like this “incident” at the ex wife’s house. I hope they can tone down the animosity for the kid’s sake. I get the sense that the ex is very bitter, perfectly undesrtandale since he called the other woman his soulmate on national tv (what a dumbass, good luck saving the marriage after that) but cool it, that’s your kids’ father.

Here's the truth, you can't rationalize not hoping he wins if he's a conservative because you know how stupid that is, so you will draw whatever absurd conclusions you have to in order to allow yourself to believe that he's not a conservative.

My advice, just own your position and say you think keeping a "sleazy" guy out is more important than public policy and keeping a commie from getting into a somewhat competitive seat that she could very well hold in the next election. I could go back to pre-Argentinian mistress threads about Sanford and cite 95% of the freepers posting on it drooling about how great Sanford is (you had a ton of "Sanford 4 Prez!!" types) But why bother? Facts don't matter to this crowd, it's not like they're going to change their mind when the evidence is presented.

This seat is lost, because conservatives decided to willingly surrender it. Same crowd who said their would "no difference" between Coleman and that socialist slime Al Franken.

Paul Thurmond will win the seat in 2014. But I’d rather he do it by beating incumbent Mark Sanford in the primary, not by facing incumbent Congresswoman Colbert-Moonbat in the general.
