Attorney General Eric Holder: Jail time for blacks is too long
The Washington Times ^ | 4/5/2013

Attorney General Eric Holder expressed “concern” Thursday evening that black men are unfairly served with longer prison sentences than white men and that America’s prison system demands overhaul.

“Too many people go to too many prisons for far too long for no good law enforcement reason,” Mr. Holder said, in remarks to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in New York, Politico reported. “It is time to ask ourselves some fundamental questions about our criminal justice system. … It is time to examine our systems and determine what truly works.”

Mr. Holder said in the Politico report that state laws oftentimes require sentences that are too harsh for the specific case — and that “breed[s] disrespect” for the court system. He also referred to a report from the U.S. Sentencing Commission released in February and said figures show that blacks are being disproportionately prosecuted and sentenced.

“I am concerned by a troubling report … which indicates that — in recent years — black male offenders have received sentences that are nearly 20 percent longer than those imposed on white males convicted of similar crimes,” he said, Politico reported.

If Holder is interested in getting the white prison population up a tad, how about indicting some of their pals like Corzine, Dimon, the entire board over at Goldman Sacks, The Federal reserve board of governors, those involved in gun running at ATF and higher, tax cheats like Gaitner and the rest of the dem contributors?

“THANK GOD WE GOT PENITENTIARIES!”

Imagine the neighborhoods these people are being returned to as they’re set free; I know Newark NJ laid off hundreds of cops. What timing!

When Holder and Obama can control theirselves to the point that they are not breaking the law and when every minority infested Democratic city can control themselves and pay their own way, then I might listen to Holder.

Nope sorry, that is wrong I will never listen to Holder.

Every time I see a video of mobs robbing Walgreens I wonder how many crimes these thugs will commit until they actually land in prison.

Most likely more blacks are repeat offenders, and therefore, as a repeat offender get a longer sentence for a “similar crime.”

Perhaps blacks get harsher sentences because they are REPEAT OFFENDERS. Many times over.

Holder your not “conveniently” forgetting of the higher recidivism rates?

Black, 35 years and younger for any offense.

“For Prisoners released with selected characteristics:
76.1% were arrested for new crime within 3 years of release.
51.1% were adjudicated (or brought to court) for a new crime within 2 years.
25.2% were convicted for a new crime within one year.
10.7% were reincarcerated (i.e. placed in jail or prison) following a conviction on a new crime within 6 months.
31.8% were convicted of a new crime and placed in prison within 3 years.”

White, 35 years and younger for any offense.

For Prisoners released with selected characteristics:
67.3% were arrested for new crime within 3 years of release.
42.4% were adjudicated (or brought to court) for a new crime within 2 years.
22.1% were convicted for a new crime within one year.
7.8% were reincarcerated (i.e. placed in jail or prison) following a conviction on a new crime within 6 months.
25.3% were convicted of a new crime and placed in prison within 3 years.”

Without racism, the communists wouldn’t have anything. I hate them more now than I did back during the days of the Cold War. This new batch are some lowlife, shifty bastards.

Mandatory minimum sentencing is one of the worse laws ever passed.

If it’s true that blacks’ sentences are 20% longer than whites guilty of the same crimes, then Holder is right.

That’s what happens when blacks commit murder at a rate of about 6 times that of the rest of the population.

Between 1976-2005, per DOJ statistics, blacks comprised 12% of the population yet were responsible for 52.2% of all homicides committed.

It got rid of childhood issues.

The reason blacks are in the system 20% longer is recidivism due to violation of parol.

It also says nothing about PREVIOUS crimes that these defendants may have committed. If someone has a long record, they also tend to get longer sentences. Heather MacDonald writes about these issues in CityJournal.

Holder is lying by omission, but that's the kind of thing we've come to expect from him.

Let’s see, the number one killer of a young black male in America is another young black male. So Holder wants that young black male who killed another young black male out of jail early?

Yep makes perfect sense. He will get out of jail early only to go kill more young black males until he himself is killed—by another young black male.

“The reason blacks are in the system 20% longer is recidivism due to violation of parol.”

So why do blacks violate parole more than whites/latinos?
