Attorney General Eric Holder: Jail time for blacks is too long
The Washington Times ^ | 4/5/2013

Posted on 04/05/2013 2:35:04 PM PDT by Altura Ct.

Attorney General Eric Holder expressed “concern” Thursday evening that black men are unfairly served with longer prison sentences than white men and that America’s prison system demands overhaul.

“Too many people go to too many prisons for far too long for no good law enforcement reason,” Mr. Holder said, in remarks to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in New York, Politico reported. “It is time to ask ourselves some fundamental questions about our criminal justice system. … It is time to examine our systems and determine what truly works.”

Mr. Holder said in the Politico report that state laws oftentimes require sentences that are too harsh for the specific case — and that “breed[s] disrespect” for the court system. He also referred to a report from the U.S. Sentencing Commission released in February and said figures show that blacks are being disproportionately prosecuted and sentenced.

“I am concerned by a troubling report … which indicates that — in recent years — black male offenders have received sentences that are nearly 20 percent longer than those imposed on white males convicted of similar crimes,” he said, Politico reported.

“build more prisons...put them...the criminals....away for longer times...”

I’m in favor of putting the violent criminals away for much shorter periods of time, the time it takes to walk to the electric chair. Bob Grant, the radio talk show great, used to say that repeat violent offenders “have served notice on society that they are not fit to walk among us”. His remedy was to throw away the key for all repeat violent offenders. I’m not sure that goes far enough.

And consider how many first time (!) or juvenile offenders don’t even get a slap on the wrist-like the most recent “wilding” in Chicago, in which people were assaulted, 20 cars were vandalised, etc-18-20 of the “yoots” were brought in until their parent or “auntie” or whoever could be found picked them up-no jail time, nothing. They are being charged with what amounts to childhood “mischief”, even though their “mischief” put an elderly man in the hospital after he was robbed and attacked while being accompanied by his granddaughter, who was fortunately pulled into a business doorway and protected by a stranger.

Just what they’re doing about the discrepency in school disciplinary measures-black males receive more, so the decree from on high is to even the score by giving whites the same punishments for chewing gum in class that black offenders get for pulling a knife on a classmate.

Correction:

So what Mr. My People is saying is that we should empty out the prisons and let violent criminals go back to the ghettos and rob and murder more black people.

It’s Holder’s “Catch and Release Program“

This will also improve the morale of city police departments.
LMBO!!
As long as Holder and Ubama release the feral animals back where they came from, I guess I really don't care. (chuckle) Have at it, bro.

The progressives want these felons back on the streets killing us to do their bidding.

The quicker they can kill us the sooner they can enact more gun law.

"Eric damn well knows that most blacks get longer sentences because they commit far more violent crimes and they are very often repeat offenders to violent crimes."

Back in the 80's when crack cocaine was first hitting the streets, Marxine Waters, Jesse Jackass and others of their ilk called it a scourge of the inner cities and demanded that penalties for dealing and possessing crack were jacked up higher than for like amounts of simple cocaine.

They got exactly what they asked for...the longer sentences for blacks merely reflect the fruits of their efforts.

It was legislation by hysteria. During the Reagan administration blacktivists were trying to blame the proliferation ("epidemic")of crack in black communities on the CIA. IIRC, Waters and Farrakhan were the two leading proponents of this conspiracy theory. The conventional wisdom in the inner cities was that crack was being foisted on black communities by "the man," and in order to satiate their constituents they pushed the Anti-Drug Abuse Acts of 1986 and 1988 which set particularly draconian penalties for crack vs. those for powdered cocaine.

Hey, Eric, you affirmative action blockhead: if you don’t want them to do the time, tell them not to do the crime.

Or is that logic too difficult for you to follow?

Exactly. And a lot depends on prior records. In North Carolina and I assume many other states, sentences are based on points. Score high - do more time. Holder/Obama, etc. really want a race war. I didn’t used to really believe it, but I’m beginning to. Another crisis to not let go to waste.

Trying to impose leniency based on race is a dealbreaker.
