Who’s going to host the show? Jane Fonda?

LBJ should have done to Hanoi what Curtis LeMay did to Tokyo.

I am sure that the surviving family members of the Air Force KIAs would be disgusted at the use of their loved ones as TV props.

Back in 2008, the Amazing Race had on display the flight suit John McCain was wearing when he was captured.

I'm a little torn on the issue.

The wreckage of the B-52 is there and has been turned into somewhat of a tourist attraction.

Is it better to be seen and noted - or never seen and forgotten?

A lot of VN vets are returning to VN in their twilight years and they tend to go to places like that.

Besides - the US has hauled all kinds of War Trophies back from all over the world. Some of those armored vehicles had their crews killed in them.

I watched that episode, and hoped that a contestant or two, or perhaps the mc, would say a few words of respect and remembrance.

If that happened, it was not shown. I found myself wondering who the pilot(s) were. It would have been good to have that mentioned.

We are a silly nation, overall, playing double U turns where a good man or men went down in flames trying to staunch the flow of communism. It was a sad commentary on the state of our nation, or at least our nation’s entertainment, today.

I like Amazing Race, it’s a clean show where you learn things, have a bit of adventure, see some real competition, get to know some people. But this was really disconcerting.

Next week, how about a carnival on the graves at Arlington? /s

On our tour of Vietnam in 2004, they took us to the museum and they said that the “American Enemy was coming” on the video. All of us were American Military Tourists. It felt weird but that is what they thought at the time (1960’s and 1970’s). It was an old propaganda film. Oh well they love us now. It is cool to see the beauty of Vietnam today. We did that! We should be proud that the Amazing Race can even film in that country. The reason??? The United States!!!!

I have watched every season of the show since it began except for the seasons where they let people who were contestants on other reality shows compete.

What I truly find amazing is that executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer is/was one of Hollywoods few power wielding conservatives, yet he allowed something like this on one of his shows.

I won’t be watching anymore unless there is some sort of apology. Shame, shame.

I think it’s stretching things to be offended about the B-52 site. It’s a memorial to remember what happened. I watched the episode of Amazing Race and no where were there people cheering or celebrating that Americans were killed, it’s just there to remember what happened.

What surprises me more is that people were offended at this and not when all the contestants had to listen to the singing of Vietnam’s national anthem over and over again. Of course, while we watching the TV got subtitles, I’m guessing the contestants had no idea what the Vietnamese were saying (mostly socialist propaganda).

I watched that episode of The Amazing Race (3/17) and was surprised when they sent the contestants to VietNam and very surprised when the producers chose to use the crashed B-52 site for a stop on the race and having them sit through the stupid 'communism is wonderful' propaganda song, with sub-titles for the home audience (I assume the contestants didn't understand a word). I'm sure it will be justified but frankly, the whole VietNam 'leg' of the race made me a bit uneasy.

America lost over 58,000 good men in that war and the politicians ended up abandoning the effort with a phony peace treaty that, in effect, gave the communists the victory. No one wants to ignore history but making that hardcore communist country part of a popular TV 'reality' show using some lame commie propaganda song and a crashed B-52 as part of the show seemed a bit callous. I wasn't in the VietNam war so maybe its just me. If VietNam vets are O.K. with it, who am I to be offended? Besides, the show has already come and gone.

Thank you for the opportunity to simply state that only idiots with too much time and a total vacuum of intellect would watch this and similar programs.

I know. They're not aware of their total uselessness to an avanced civilization.

The show also had contestants learn a song that was performed for them

They didn't have to "learn" the commie song, they had to remember what was written on some umbrellas, in Vietnamese, so they could find the correct commie poster and bring it to the commie judge.

The part that really pissed me off was they had to go to the B52 memorial, where Americans most likely were captured or died, and get there next clue. Yet, they were clueless...products of public schooling.
