I expect several of the retreads from the 2012 primaries to jump in and see how they do.

They were, after all, such a stellar group. [/s]

Huckabee is hinting.

JebB is hinting.

Ryan is hinting.

Paul is hinting (and not to subtly).

Rubio is hinting.

Christie is hinting.

Carson is hinting.

==

Every cycle, we seem to start out with a dozen to a dozen-and-a-half of wannabes.

Too bad that none of the names that have ‘hinted’ so far for 2016 are very stellar candidates.

Not that there are necessarily any PAT answers, however...

Still a long time until the field begins to emerge. I’m hoping there is someone out there that emerges that wasn’t even in the race in 2012.

Santorum won the GOP poplar vote in 11 states during the primaries. He’s got a long way to go to become the go to person, imo.

So Mr. Pan how do you feel about Ronald Reagan's reputation hmmm? The former actor turned governor turned president? Really? You're saying you would have a problem voting for an educated former senator? THE TRUTH

and in most of those states, the voting populations were tiny, and most were after the process was over, which it was after Florida.

snake oil salesman

That describes most politicians, especially those trying enhance their career by getting elected to the next national level: Senate or presidency.

For example, Paul has already spend much of this week wriggling around some of his recent statements. JebB was on the Sunday morning talkies saying that what was in his book wasn't really what he believes -- now.

Snakes or, perhaps, more like worms.

Santorum’s more of an Establishment guy than many Freepers realize.

Prove it!

Running against Reagan is not going to get you far on FR - and to compare RS to RR is not going to be helfpul either. While your Weekly Standard piece makes some good points, I would suggest you Google “50 Things You Don’t Know About Rick Santorum” - which is a Santorum campaign document from his campaign for the Senate. Most of those “50 things” are trying to convince PA liberals that he too, is one of them. In other words, in his last campaign, he very much acted like a Democrat.

Hey, I’m just the messenger here......Santorum’s people wrote that thing....

It is called vetting. That is part of what the debates do.

Just jumping on the current high-flier bandwagon doesn’t work.

Look at 2012 at the number of ‘frontrunners’ who fell from grace.

Im no fan of Santrum by any means, but if losing their seat makes them a poor candidate than what is your opinion Of Allen West then?

West was gerrymandered by the GOPe into a district they were sure he couldn't win. He almost did anyway.

You were saying?

I absolutely didn’t compare Santorum to Ronald Reagan. I don’t believe you can do that - unlike some people in here I’m a realist. Read the original post I responded to. I would suggest that all of you take a step back and think about how all of these candidates are REAL men and so are you sitting behind your computer screens at least half the time falsely accusing them. Until the party unites and ceases to bow down to Karl Rove, the Drudge Report, and crazy Paulbots (currently posing as conservatives), it will implode soon. Rush was right. The left loathes the word “Republican”, not the word “conservative”. Republicans are allowing code words in 2013 like: “liberty” and “freedom” to be thrown around by paulbots to rebrand the party and they are letting the party slip away. Voters will be duped again, and conservatives will lose their grip. Do not settle, stay true, stop looking for something NEW.

Well, I’m with Santorum until someone better comes along. People say he’s “unlikable”, but it seems when he went into enemy territory (MSNBC, CNN, etc.), the host of the show would come away liking him and actually agreeing with him on certain points — or at least respecting his views.

I just checked and Reagan hasn’t run for office in 29 years. Santorum is not Reagan. Our problems will not be solved by a “process guy” like Santorum or Gingrich who spent decades working the machine instead of trying to dismantle it.

I liked what I heard from Rick. Sent him $100 after he appeared here.
Sadly, I think his time has come and gone.

And it’s retreads like this that will keep the GOP the stupid party and getting trounced in national elections. Good grief...

Except he makes the Christian’s appear ugly with his mean and hateful talk. I am a believer, and it turns me off! There is such a thing as ‘truth’ in love.
Plus he is too much into having another war. No.....easy for him to do, but about 5000 men lost is enough for a long while.

Santorum is not Reagan.

You seriously believe I was comparing Rick Santorum to Ronald Reagan? Okay I will clarify:

And if that's another sweater vest wearing, no executive experience, lawyer turned career politician from the north east with a questionable record then by golly FReepers will take that suppository, jump on the band wagon out of panic and waddle to the polls in 2016 and vote for him just like the last couple of losers.

Reagan: career hollywood actor /governor
Santorum: career attorney /senator

?

JMHO’s: Palin will never run for office again. Santorum is squishier than you think, and widely perceived as a sourpuss. Romney will try again. Jeb will run. Romney and Bush will kneecap Santorum and the media will roast him on a spit. Voting doesn’t work anymore; we’re just going through the motions, like a bad marriage appearing at holiday dinner.
Oh, and Hillary won’t run.
