Bill Maher Just Found Out Who Pays Taxes
The Rush Limbaugh Program ^ | 19 March 2013 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

Friday night, Real Time with Bill Maher, it actually happened. Bill Maher actually said, and he was serious, that he doesn't know if he can stay in California with the high taxes. He may have reached his tipping point. He actually said on his show (paraphrasing), "Liberals, you may lose me." He said, "Look, I'm a liberal and I'm all for paying my fair share, but this is ridiculous." I'm paraphrasing. And then he said something that I was pleasantly amused by. He said he just learned -- now, you and I, you've known this for 20 years. This is instructive. He just learned that the top 1% are paying 40% of the taxes. And when he learned that, he was beside himself. He just learned it. He told everybody, "I just saw it today, I just saw the statistic." Here it is. Sound bite 22. I think we could squeeze it in. Let's give it a shot. This is what he said.

MAHER: Rich people, I'm sure you'd agree with this, actually do pay the freight in this country. I just saw these statistics. I mean something like 70%. And here in California, I just want to say, liberals, you could actually lose me. It's outrageous what we're paying. Over 50%. I'm willing to pay my share, but, yeah, it's ridiculous.

RUSH: So he said he just saw it. He just saw it. The top 5% paying 70%, he just saw that. It's amazing. It's amazing the things liberals do not know. It's amazing the things that they do know that are not right. Double whammy.

I call BS. It just didn’t come to him, but rather he just signed his tax returns and shat his pants.

Mahr and other Hollywooders will be squawking when Congress has to raise taxes to pre-Regan era rates just to pay for all the current spending.

But even pre-Reagan rates had enough tax deductions to mitigate any punishing results. Reagan did lower rates, but he also reduced deductions. (ex. you could no longer deduct your credit card interest rates)
Hauser’s Law shows that no matter what the income tax rates at any time, the Federal revenues averaged 18% GDP.

We should never forget to add the world try in re fence to their aledge reason for raising taxes.

We all know that they can’t get more than 18-20% of the long term GDP, no matter how high they raise taxes.

Here are my extensions to Hauser’s law.

“X” times higher marginal tax rates = “nX” times more revenue for tax lawyers and tax accountants; and “zX” times more revenue for federal lobbyists (advocating special exemptions for their clients).

Total expenditures for tax lawyers, accountants and lobbyists will approach, be equal to, or even slightly exceed total new revenue projections due to the tax increases.

I could add that a great name for a firm of tax lawyers and accountants would be “Galt,Taggart,Rearden, and d’Anconia”. Their advertising slogan could say: “Taxed too much? Don’t hide in a gulch — go Galt.”

Remember, any tax reform legislation will include ending the loophole that allows state and local taxes to be deducted on the federal return. What till Maher sees what THAT does to his tax bill? All those blue state millionaires are due for a BIG surprise..

I have no sympathy for those who facilitated the current state of government. Choke on it, Maher.

“All those blue state millionaires are due for a BIG surprise..”

The BIGGER surprise will come when Maher finds out that no one has any money to spend watching him on cable or going to see him “perform.” His learning curve is going to be steep and soon!
