The feminist dreams were the wrapper. The confection actually served is a lifetime of economic servitude to afford escalating living costs, family estrangement and disintegration and finally, of course, more taxes for a bloated authoritarian system.
And now I am back in the cubicle maze after many years of raising my girls. I'm bored and frustrated. Life in my little 4-walled prison is not nearly as gratifying and meaningful as were my days making mudpies (and real ones).
Those who delight in their "chopstick lunches" have no idea what they are missing.
All the while wearing their jet black colored leisure suits, that give new meaning to the word “ugly.”
I tell you what, I was majorly upset when I figured it out that that mantra from my high school that marriage and children were a trap was a big whopping lie! That marriage and a family were ALL that mattered, whether you were rich or poor. My mom, now an 85 year old I’m OK You’re OK hippie had been completely and totally WRONG!
“After so many years, what is the point if you arent very driven or at least making a lot of money?”
Because any money helps at a time when one income doesn’t go far; even if it just covers a few bills a month, it is a help.
“All the while wearing their jet black colored leisure suits, that give new meaning to the word ugly. “
I think that is to hide fat (at least that’s what my wife says).
"Feminism" is nothing if not devising vindication for doing only what one pleases.
I totally get that! That’s why I don’t quit, although I’d love to!
My wife works part time, so she’s there for the kids before & after school; she says she likes to have adult interaction, but the money she makes is a big help. I don’t know how people do it with one income (and we don’t have expensive tastes at all). Here in NJ, when property taxes run you $7K on a very average (and old) home, there isn’t much left over for after buying groceries. The whole state is in a death spiral; there is no future here for young people (or entrepreneurs), so those who won’t be taxed to death are fleeing by the droves.
