At CPAC, Palin Has Not Gotten Any Smarter Since Her Disastrous Political Career Ended
Mother Jones ^ | March 16, 2013 | Andy Kroll

Sarah Palin rocked a packed ballroom here at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday afternoon. The applause was roaring. The hollers many. The atmosphere crackling. In other words: Dog bites man.

Palin's speech, if you can call it that, was Palin at her most Palinesque: heavy on one-liners and folksy charm; light on, you know, anything resembling substance and solutions. Here, a sampling of Palin's many zingers:

"They talk about rebuilding the party. How about rebuilding the middle class?"

"They talk about rebuilding the GOP? How about restoring the trust of the people?"

"Let's be clear about one thing: We're not here to rebrand a party. We're here to rebuild a country."

"Barack Obama promised the most transparent administration ever. Barack Obama, you lie!"

"Mr. President, we admit it: You won! Now accept it and step away from the teleprompter and do your job."

"Remember no-drama Obama? Now it's all-drama Obama."

"More background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Shoulda started with yours."

"[Obama] is considered a good politician—which is like saying Bernie Madoff was a good salesman."(continued)

It’s not that I subscribe to the MSM, I’m merely a realist. Do you not know how a marginalized political personality can be a detriment to any cause? For better or worse she’s been marginalized for a number of specific reasons, most not of her own doing. This is serious business, I’m not sure of Ben Carson’s stances on a variety of issues, I was merely using him as an example of the type of definite and forceful language needed to be used in attacking this administration.

You do realize that using your view, that no real conservative has a chance because the media, as they have always done since I became an adult, do their best to destroy anyone who effectively communicates conservatism.

One problem with your theory is the example of Ronald Reagan, who constantly, effectively communicated conservatism and won landslide victories even with the same vehemence, distortion and character assassination provided by the media of his time.

I don't know if you know it or not, but you are providing support for the Karl Roves of this world who would like nothing better than move the GOP further to the left.

we’re in a situation that requires drastic and definite seriousness, and sad to say, Mrs. Palin doesn’t provide it.

I think she is the breath of fresh air that does provide it, along with Cruz, Trey Gowdy, Allen West, Cain and Carson (in some ways).
We conservatives don't have many to hang our hats on and each of them will be bashed by the powers that be, count on it.
Bending time is over with.

Making a surprise celebrity shot just before Sarah Palin took the stage, Cruz reminded the crowd of Sarah Palin’s role in helping our current roster of young, conservative rock-stars get elected in the first place: “The mainstream media is absolutely convinced that women cannot be conservatives. … That’s why Gov. Palin drives the mainstream media bat-crap crazy. It shakes up their entire world view, and you know what, she can pick winners. Sarah Palin jumped in early and supported Rand Paul. She supported Marco Rubio. She supported Tim Scott. She supported Pat Toomey. She supported Nikki Haley. And this last election cycle, there were three Republicans who won new seats, Deb Fischer, Jeff Flake, and myself. She supported all three of us. Let me tell you something: I would not be in the U.S. Senate today if it were not for Gov. Sarah Palin. She is fearless, she is principled, she is courageous, and she is a mama grizzly.”

I think the conservative message cogently and consistently communicated, as Reagan did, can make the difference; and you’re absolutely right, they tried their mightiest to tear him down, and they failed, and this was in the era when they were in their heyday.

I know of a few guys on the radio that relay that message daily to huge effect, but could you honestly say that they haven’t been so damaged in the eyes of the public that the message delivered as a national candidate hasn’t been fatally damaged?

A Reagan is possible again, we just need to find him or her.

‘Tis Saint Patty’s Day weekend, no???

Dear Ms. Sarah, to the liberals, Communists, Socialists, Progressives, and all those who cling to those already mentioned, is The Banshee, wailing loud and clear outside The house of Liberalism!

May her wailing chill the very marrow of every type listed, but instill in the Conservative a solemnity of purpose, and inner strength for the coming times!

Long Live The Republic!

( a liberal will never understand the term, “fill yer hand, you (your choice)!”), or, “In steel, there is truth!”

If she is so irrelevant, why all the effort to further discredit and destroy her?

I think we all know the answer to that one.

Sarah Palin's message is so TRUTHFUL that it irritates the LEFT to its very core. ALSO... Sarah has BEAUTY in addition to brains.

Smart attractive Conservatives ALWAYS trump predictable brain-dead LIBERALS. It will ALWAYS be that way.

Boiler plate 101

Oh come on. Nobody is more conservative than me, but please, at long last can’t we agree that this (name of person) is just not up to it? (Person) lost me when (said person) ran back in the house when (name of celeb) just wanted to say hello. Not a player, never was one, no matter how much I agree with her.

1. Claim to be conservative (pump up creds)
2. Claim said person “lost you” while in an mundane situation.
3. Feel hurt
4. Try to build false consensus with false disgust
5. Move on to next candidate and repeat process
6. If said person finds someone, beat off off criticism with “get with the program”.

everyone is “marginalized” because people either

1. give up
2. eat the spin up
3. have to spine
4. sit back and let it happen because it wasn’t their candidate (which only emboldens the punks)

I remember when people told me that Romney was the “only person who can win” blah, blah, blah and when the heat got turned up (and got a taste of the Palin treatment) they didn’t look so smart didn’t they? Matter of fact, they freaked.

If this is the mentality of the rank-and-file you’re not gonna have anyone left to help you.

I would vote and campaign for her in a heartbeat. The left wingers are afraid of her. Rove needs her out of the way so his bank account stays active. If the people do not listen to her and to some of the others, it’s time for a new party. These liberal republicans are not there for the people. How much longer do people follow these go alongs.
