The other Democrat that could use Judd in office is Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson. He is the former mayor of Louisville. He is a good leader and would be a good governor. But his statewide draw would be a challenge. The rest of the state usually will not go for a Louisville candidate. So Judd in office could help him when it comes time for his governor run.

Her strong ties to the University of Kentucky are a positive that could overcome a lot of concerns about her liberal views. Blood - blue blood - will be thicker than political views for a lot of people in the state.

I will say that her and Clooney at least walk their talk on their liberal views. Was not happy with George backing Obama again. But also liked that he condemned the attacks on Palin’s kids when others did not.

I do not think that the KY liberal actors guild are that way just to get invited to parties like Damon and Affleck.

Oh, this one sounds like a REAL piece of work...

Let her run, please...and go right on making statements like that one...

If Ah-nold could get elected in Kahl-i-fournia.... we should we worried about Judd.

She WILL pull a LOT of low-information votes.

“We winter in Scotland. We’re smart like that,” she told students.

Too good for that home state, are ya Trashley?

I believe she got a degree in French. That’s probably good for a few votes from some snooty urbanites in Lexington.

I can’t see Yarmuth running statewide or against Rand Paul, if only for one reason... he’s not a young man. He’ll be 69 when Paul is up for reelection in 2016. That’s too old to embark on a career in the Senate (as the assumption that one needs 3-4 terms in that body to have a career). Poor Alben Barkley tried to return to the Senate when he was 77, dropped dead the following year.

Curiously, Yarmuth used to be a Marlow Cook Republican (ex-Senator). Poor Cook went moonbat and is now a Zerobot in his advanced senility.

Key difference, Minnesota is not Kentucky.

I think they’re just trying to rough up the GOP leader, they know they can’t beat him so rough him up with a gimmick candidate.

Yarmuth was a Rino huh? Shocking.

Cook was only a young man of 78 when he endorsed John Kerry.

If he thinks Bush was bad it’s hard to fathom his reasoning as to why Obama isn’t.

Yarmuth worked for Cook while he was Senator. It was quite odd, though. Aside from Cook’s last year when he scored a 40, he was scoring 60s for his prior years (although the ACU didn’t grade his first two years, 1969 and 1970), so while that was a bit more liberal than we’d like, that was nowhere in the class of moonbats (and he was more Conservative than liberal Republican seatmate John Sherman Cooper), but more of an establishment guy. He was, of course, one of the victims of the 1974 Watergate fiasco (though even if that hadn’t occurred, given it was a 6-year election and facing Gov. Wendell Ford, he was going to have a tough time, regardless, and he lost by 10%).

I can’t quite make a definitive statement on why the far left appealed to Cook. Perhaps it was his post-Senate period practicing law in DC and falling in with the cocktail circuit crowd. Could be, as a Louisville-centered pol, he always harbored elitist views towards the non-urban and non-urbane crowds. Then again, Mitch McConnell followed a similar trajectory as Cook (held the same position as Judge-Executive, like a County Mayor, before ascending to the Senate) and though we’re not fans of his, he certainly doesn’t seem to have gone so far off the reservation.

I’m not optimistic about that...much of the east end got drawn out of his district - it is a much more liberal district than it was before.

“It’s unconscionable to breed, with the number of children who are starving to death in impoverished countries,”

Then the honorable thing to do would be to kill yourself and send any food that you would have eaten overseas.
