From firsthand experience an RPG hitting the turret ring will blow the gunner off and rip him in half. Happened in 2008 in Iraq.

I’m sure that was horrific.
The LAV was never designed to withstand that.

The MRAPs that we’re talking about here don’t have a turret and are designed to withstand RPG hits.
