Hickenlooper Will Support Bill Limiting Gun Magazine Rounds (CO)

DENVER (CBS4) – Gov. John Hickenlooper says he will support Rep. Rhonda Fields’ bill limiting rounds in gun magazines. The governor spoke with CBS4 Political Specialist Shaun Boyd about the gun control issue on Tuesday.

Some felt the governor had been going back and forth on this issue. He admitted to Boyd it’s been a hard decision and he has waffled, but now he says if the legislature passes the bill he will sign it — even if it means losing 200 jobs.

Hickenlooper says he does not think the magazine manufacturer Magpul is bluffing when it says it will leave the state if the bill passes.

The governor insisted his decisions on the gun measures are not based on any pressure from Washington. While Vice President Joe Biden has called several state lawmakers, Hickenlooper told Boyd he hasn’t had anyone from the White House contact him.

The Sandy Hook shooting in Connecticut influenced the governor’s position.

“You put yourself in the shoes of that principal and resource officer running for their lives and trying to save the kids and what’s in their minds; and him just flipping around and he’s got a 30-shot clip. He’s got two 30-shot clips taped together,” Hickenlooper said. “You’ve got to think, ‘Is the convenience of someone at a target range not having to change their clip quite so often worth the risk to citizens and people in their neighborhoods?’ ”

The governor has not decided if he will sign a bill banning concealed carry on college campuses, and he wouldn’t even comment on a bill being introduced Wednesday that would make gun retailers and manufacturers liable if their weapons are used in a crime.

And Magpul's response to this...

FR thread. Magpul Industries Corp. Facebook Announcement

"We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents' ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our... best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue." ....

Governor doesn’t even know the difference between clips and magazines. It just shows the absolute ignorance of these people who think they know so much more and are so much smarter than the rest of us are.

Governor, give up all your armed security for the rest of your life. Disarm your self and see how much safer you feel.

Idiot.

I don’t think Magpul is bluffing. They’re leaving CO. They should start a recall election on the way out.

I never thought that I would live to see the day when so many people in the United States would prefer to live as slaves depending on the Government to wipe their asses rather than free and responsible men and women.

But will Hickenlooper make 250 million law abiding citizens criminal over night?

You can dismiss 200 law abiding citizens, but 250 million?

If every governor would sign mag cap bills, we’d never have another mass shooting. /s

If you actually cared about the kids you would acknowledge that had ANY law abiding person been allowed and had a gun in that school there would have been many fewer dead kids.

If you cared about the kids you'd be advocating for an end to the proven deadly concept of "gun free school zones".

You really only care about advancing the cause of an all powerful government by abrogating the Constitution.

You can always count on representatives of the Democratic [sic] party to think up hypothetical examples to excuse further predations against the nation's civil rights.

I hope that given the dislocation to MagPul, I hope that they prosper in a location that respects and honors them.

Magpul will leave. I will to, sooner rather than later. I’ll be taking my six figure job with me. I won’t be the only one. Nice job Colorado, been a good run.

The D rep from 59th Colorado district, the Durango area, has been notified that a recall effort is underway against him. More may be coming.

Chickenblooper oughta realize that any future campaign aspirations he has are gonna be much more expensive now than they might have been...
If there is any one group that has a long memory, its the firearms owners who have had to put up with politico's trying to take away their right to defend themselves from politioc's attempts at tyranny & disarming their constituency.

I wonder if any of the Enemedia will bother to ask this one, simple question:

“How will you enforce this law amongst the criminals who DON’T obey the laws already?”

I want to know how they will round up a trillion mags?

They claim they can not round up 11 million illegals.
Hell, they just set illegals loose today while they clamp down on citizens.

My Brother lives in CO. He said the Guv WOULD NEVER go along with this crap. He actually thinks that even a Rat has principles.

I warned him, but he said it wasn’t possible in Colorado.

I shall call him tomorrow and gloat.

I will also tell him to order the maximum number of 30 Round AR-15 Magazines he can from Magpul. He doesn’t own an AR-15, BUT I SURE AS HELL DO.

They'll just carry more mags and "tape" those together. Not 'clips' Hicken -- they are called magazines.
