That's right GOP, if Rand isn't on the ballot in 2016 we will stay at home again and you can enjoy 8 years of another Democrat president. We will not accept any more fake conservatives, got it?

I am going to do my damndest to primary every RINO Congressman and Senator in my state that I can. I’m going to give money to conservatives who I think can beat them. I’ll work on their campaigns now that I’m retired.

But I will tell you this. I am not about to hold out for Rand Paul for President of anything, nor would I vote for him.

He has some good ideas and some that I think are horribly foolish. I’m not going to be a RINO supporter but I’m not going full blown BIG L Libertarian either.

I wont vote for a presidential candidate who is not a conservative next time either. I have some reservations about Rand..not sure if he is a Libertarian whom I wont vote for or a Conservative whom I might if he shows he is strong on Defense...

You will not accept any REAL conservatives either, because libertarianism and conservatism are DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHIES. Guess what? We’re not approving homo-marriage or most of the other quack ideas.

While we both agree that our country’s fiscal policy needs to be radically overhauled, conservatives have a commitment to restoring basic decency in America.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

That’s John Adams. Since we are clearly no longer a moral or religious people (Obama was voted for TWICE), your libertarian society cannot adequately serve the people. Conservatism argues that the more morality we have in America, the closer we will be to the true vision of the Founders.

I was a registered republican for over 35 years. During the fiscal cliff nonsense I finally dropped my registration and joinEd the Libertarisn party. I have issues with them but fewer than I do with the RINO republicans. The Libertarians are objectively more honest and true to their principles than either major party, IMHO. The RINOs shouldn’t continue to get away with this crap.

The Pauls are both fake conservatives just not of the usual RINO type. We need real conservatives not libertarians.

Some of the knee-jerk libertarian bashing around here is amusing.

We had almost a decade of Washington controlled by "conservatives", and there is absolutely nothing to show for it other than possibly Sam Alito. Libertarians didn't wreck the country, spend us into debt, and fight a bunch of wars that the public got so tired of that they voted for a Marxist over a veteran POW.

I saw Rand Paul's speech at Heritage, and thought it was great. The people bitching about the lack of details are the ones who completely missed the general philosophy in the first place.

There are Freepers who still support archaic big government schemes like marijuana prohibition and endless war foreign wars, which just proves how meaningless the term "conservative" has become.

Libertarian Party members have a Big Tent full of ideas.

Their ideas on Drugs, Sex and other topics that are more about civil morality than civil Government will place past and future Libertarian Candidates in a small niche’ voting block.

Their ideas on money and the size of the Federal Government are currently their strong suits.

The 2012 Romney election was the last straw for those of us middle of the road Republicans that want the following:

NO National Debt, a balanced Federal Budget every year;
NO Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare and Obama”care;”
NO aid to Dependent Children, Federal Disabilities for non-Federal workers;
NO Federal Aid to Schools;
NO department of Education, National Labor Relations Board;
NO Federal Housing Authority, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae;
NO Federal loans to Private Businesses;
NO Progressive Personal Income Tax System;
and NO Income tax on Interest and dividends.

This should decrease the size of the damned US Federal Government by about 40 % in 10 years.

To achieve this wonderful goal in 10 years would require an across the board cut of 40 % in year to year spending to ALL of the above Federal Welfare Programs EVERY YEAR for consecutive 10 Years.

If our sorry Federal Politicians do not do this soon, the World Bond Market will do it for them VERY soon.

If future Libertarians can reject the permissive planks on Drugs, Sex and other moral quagmires then then would have more appeal to us middle of the road Republicans, as defined above.
