Tens of thousands of neo-Nazis rallied in Athens in support of Greece's far-right Golden Dawn party, in the movement's largest demonstration of support since its rise to power in last Junes general election.
Men dressed in military uniforms, holding torches, donning swastikas and chanting anti-immigrant slogans, marched through central Athens in what was reportedly a memorial event paying tribute to the partys fallen soldiers, The International Business Times reported.
"This is a day of remembrance. It's a day to remember that Golden Dawn is here to stay. And so long as it does, there will be hope for the country," Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kassidiaris told supporters. ...
The party, which has become notorious for its blatant anti-Semitic and xenophobic rhetoric and has been responsible for perpetrating attacks on Jews and foreigners, has begun spreading its anti-immigration message in schools and youth clubs, as well as through online social media networks, according to recent reports in the international press. ...
Golden Dawn emerged victorious in the countrys general election last June, gaining 7 percent of the vote and 18 seats in parliament in what was seen as a barely fathomable increase from its 0.2 percent show of support in the previous election in 2009.

One of the arguments for the EUs ever closer union is that if momentum towards the quasi-federal something (that so few actually want) is not maintained, Europe will revert to war, extremism and the other horrors of its past.Fortunately the genius of the single currency and one size fits all has made this an impossibility.
Take this story from Der Spiegel:
The Greek right-wing extremist party Golden Dawn has established contacts with German neo-Nazis in Bavaria. The group, which is represented in Greek parliament, is also attempting to set up a cell in the southern German state. The Greek right-wing extremist party Golden Dawn is establishing close contacts with Bavarian neo-Nazis and began setting up a cell in Nuremberg last year. The party, known in Greek as Chrysi Avgi, even held a conference in the southern German city recently. Bavarias state intelligence agency is particularly interested in meetings that have been taking place between right-wing extremists from Greece and those in BavariaGolden Dawn is led by Nikolaos Michaloliakos and has called for a revolution in Greece and an ethnically pure nation. Members of the party are accused of physically attacking immigrants and members of the countrys left-wing. They also regularly stage intimidating marches, wearing military uniforms and singing Nazi chants, in immigrant neighborhoods of Athens. Support for the party has increased following the debt crisis and the radical austerity measures imposed on Greece by international lenders. Golden Dawn won seats in parliament for the first time in last years election and is currently polling at 12 percent.
Oh.
Keep calm. All is well.
We skip a step in this country. Most of the elected run for office pretending to be socialists (assuming the populist mantle), but when elected, govern as fascists.
Now, they march in NYC, SF, DC.....
these crackpots have an office in NYC i believe.
Amazing that the EU “peace project” invariably leads to the rise of groups like this. In the judgment, Alfred Nobel will be their biggest accusers, as he will towards all warmongers to whom the “peace prize” in his name has been given.
OH-h! That must be the new design for their flag! I must destroy several Indian designs on old pots from the Americas.
those in the major parties have looted their way throught all of this and were able to promised do nothing jobs and fat pensions for decades.
now they have put their monies outside the country and are ready to flee at the drop of a hat.
with people starving and the ecconomy shrinking people are reliving the starvation nightmare of post ww ii.
an empty belly and desperation for those with nothing.
Since the German Nazi’s were defeated, they have been completely discredited. Consequently, Nazi’s are universally regarded as evil.
But why were the Nazi’s any worse than the godless socialists under Stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot, Castro, etc?
Socialism (including National Socialism) is evil in all of its varied manifestations. The idea of one group of socialists holding themselves morally superior to another is absurd at best. Socialism strives towards secular, amoral relativism which devolves in practice into pure, concentrated evil.
The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it, (Jeremiah 17:9).
Another move from international socialism to national socialism.
It’s going to be tough to pin the rise of neo-nazism on evil nasty WW I sanctions this time.
They’ll manage to blame Republicans somehow.
Instead of the “foreign” swastika they opt for the Greek “key” as their symbol. I’ll give them points on originality.
I don’t know which they hate more, Jews or Capitalists, or is it that they see the two as inter-changeable?
They have a lot in common with the participants in “Occupy Wall Street”
They also blame the socialists. It doesn’t actually matter that the few thousand Greek Jews have no actual power. Golden Dawn and a few lunatic priests call the head of PASOK a Jew. (Actually he is 1/8th Bulgarian. Bulgarian Orthodox Jew, whatever)
That's the kind of thing you get when your economy does a "swirlly" down the poop chute.

The chilling part is that I’m not sure how big a difference there is between their socialists and ours. The far left extremists like to pretend that national socialism is the exact opposite of soviet socialism, but the over-sized government controls the means of production in both systems, the over-sized government controls people by using selective enforcement of a plethora of incomprehensible laws in both systems, and the over-sized government has concentration camps or the equivalent gulags in both systems. With Obama in power, we should be as worried as the Greeks.
