"The unending chase for money I believe threatens to steal our democracy itself. I've used the word 'corrupting' and I want to be very clear about it: I mean by it not the corruption of individuals but a corruption of a system itself that all of us are forced to participate in against our will."

Sorry, Jean Kerry, but you are getting the cart and the horse backwards. The trillions of dollars in money spent by the government, taxed by the government and regulated by the government is the corrupter. It will attract a few million dollars in campaign contributions, but that is nothing compared to the power wielded by elected officials. To put it simply, campaign money won't make a politician a whore because they are generally whores long before then.

It’ll attract contributions to buy politicians to get at the money because the money is there. That’s what government is for, according to people like Kerry: taking money from here and sticking it over there, among other things. Whattya expect, people not to try and get at it, especially considering some of it is, in fact, theirs.

Takes money to make money. I prefer capital formation and such. But this is the system preferred by statists the world over. If they didn’t want moneyed corruption they wouldn’t mess with the economy. Then the rich would use government to invade other people and take their money the oldfashioned way. Ar least I’d be left alone.
