Arizona Sen. John McCain partnered with liberal Democrat Ted Kennedy in 2005 to offer illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship, then allied with border security hardliners during a tough 2010 Republican primary. "Complete the danged fence," McCain cracked in a widely publicized television spot.
Less well known is the equally dramatic pivot by Marco Rubio, from 2010 candidate who dismissed McCains proposal as amnesty, to U.S. senator who on Monday championed reforms McCain said had very little difference from his previous plan, which became the blueprint for failed legislation in 2006 and 2007.
During a March 28, 2010 Fox News debate against then-Gov. Charlie Crist, Rubio said: He would have voted for the McCain plan. I think that plan is wrong, and the reason I think its wrong is that if you grant amnesty, as the governor proposes that we do, in any form, whether it's back of the line or so forth, you will destroy any chance we will ever have of having a legal immigration system that works here in America.

Saw the word “evolve”, my libtard light came on, and I promptly left the site in order to preserve my sanity.
I don’t think this is the case. First, the author doesn’t even know what year McCain ran for president (it wasn’t 2010). Sloppy reporting, as usual. Second, this discussion is not the same as the McCain Kennedy crap. It is much improved, and offer more reform, more stipulations, etc. There is still plenty to criticize here, but this is not like the original McCain dogpile. McCain did improve on this issues some during and after his presidential run.
Evolution for a Conservative means bye-bye as a viable conservative candidate.
If you want to allow them to stay here legally, that’s one thing. BUT....They should NEVER be allowed citizenship, since they broke the law getting here in the first place. The path to citizenship for these illegals will insure that the demo-crap party remains forever in power.
You are wrong - McCain was in a tough SENATE primary battle against JD Hayworth early on and went to the right on border control Et al.....
We are being played by the Washington elites on BOTH sides of the aisle. Right now, we are being inundated with the following issues:
1. government spending
2. gun “control”
3. “comprehensive immigration reform” (again; thanks Bush, 43)
4. taxes
5. ZeroCare
7. the economy
The intention is to overwhelm us with all of these issues so that zero and the political elites can conduct business under the radar and get whatever they want while we focus on all of these other issues.
Obama knows that the more he distracts us with nonsense, the more he can sneak under the radar. This is the danger we are facing in his second term and the reason that he will be able to destroy more than he already has. When we take our eyes off of one ball, he will make his move with another.
This article is Horse Crap.....Rubio has ALWAYS supported Amnesty
When he was Speaker of the Florida House, he killed numerous bills that would have given Florida tough Anti Illegal Alien laws like Arizona and Alabama.
Rubio has ALWAYS been Amnesty Liberal
Listening now and he sounds like a complete idiot. Acting as if the president wants to solve the problem.
Can Rubio play Mitt Romney and “evolve” on abortion, gay “rights” and even gun control as well???????
Rubio said MOST illegals came here legally on visas, and the problem is that the government never kept track of when visas expire. SO yes, they should have their visas extended, but not be granted citizenship.
Mat Staver and Liberty Counsel come out in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens
Rubio’s “evolution” was no doubt prompted by a chat with the GOP money men who made it clear to the boy wonder from Florida that he wasn’t going to get a nickel unless he agreed to help Big Business maintain the flood of low wage illegals. The Wall St. Journal crowd who would sell out America to save a few dollars on labour are even more despicable than the Democrats who would sell-out America for a few votes. Neither groups has any interest in the well-being of America.
I knew that process had taken place when I saw Rubio out raising money with Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and Scott Brown.
Senore’ Rubio has fast become a major disappointment.
I will NEVER support him for even dog catcher after his little amnesty b.s.
