Paul Ryan Booed at Inauguration
Weekly Standard ^ | 01/21/13

Posted on 01/21/2013 1:46:31 PM PST by MissesBush

Paul Ryan, the Republican vice presidential nominee in the last election, was booed at President Barack Obama's Second Inauguration today in Washington, D.C.

"If things had gone differently in November, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) might have departed the Capitol on Monday as the vice president of the United States. Instead, he faced a chorus of boos as he left the building to attend President Barack Obama's second inauguration ceremony," reports the Huffington Post.

The left-leaning website reports that Ryan attended the Inauguration out of duty. "Ryan announced last week that he would be present for Obama's public swearing in at the Capitol, calling it his 'obligation.'"

Ryan is chairman of the House Budget Committee.

UPDATE: Here's Ryan's statement on Obama's Inauguration:

"I congratulate President Obama on his inauguration, and I join the country in celebrating this American tradition.

"The president and I were political opponents. We had strong disagreements over the direction of the country—as we still do now. But today, we put those disagreements aside. Today, we remember what we share in common.

"We serve the same country, one that is still in need of repair—and is still the freest on earth. We serve alongside men and women from both parties, who govern in good faith and good will. Finally, we serve the same people, who have honored us with their charge.

Am I supposed to feel sympathy for Ryan who’s caved on higher taxes in an “imperfect deal” and who thinks we can wait more than ten years to balance the budget????

A beltway generated story to do what......

Make me angry with liberals and Obama so I’ll support Republicans.

Heck, the GOP is making fundraising calls today but I’m not biting.....

He wouldn’t have been there without the conservative press getting on their knees. And they wouldn’t have gotten to their knees if Soros hadn’t figuratively held a gun to their heads (as confirmed by law enforcement), just like he did to Bill and Hillary Clinton (and their friends Bill Gwatney and Stephanie Tubbs, who were each killed shortly after agreeing to present a petition challenging Obama’s eligibility at the 2008 dem convention), and like he did to the eligibility judges one after the other (as it appears from their blatant unethical and/or unlawful actions - which seem to me to be red flags to tell us they were acting under duress).

2008 was a coup. The systems are all hostage.

The stage is being set for some combination of economic crash, EMP from Iran, and/or biological warfare - most likely at the hands of Hezbollah and Hamas operatives who were flown on direct unchecked flights from Iran to Venezuela, possibly bearing both Saddam Hussein and Bashar Assad’s WMD’s including biological WMD’s, and for whom Eric Holder is paving the way by suing to keep the border unenforced and arming the drug cartels that have been smuggling in terrorists. By now there could be biological weapons stockpiled in every major city just waiting for the signal.

And Obama first had to get Obamacare passed before pushing the Muslim agenda he supports - as he told the (now-ousted0 Egyptian ambassador in January of 2010 - because he wanted to drive doctors out of business and bring on shortages of medicines before the biological warfare hit.

The agenda all sects of Islam agree on is the destruction of the US and Israel and the institution of worldwide sharia. Everything Obama has ever done has advanced those 3 goals. The goals of the communist-Islamist alliance under George Soros - a worldwide alliance that illegally put a foreign enemy combatant into our White House to destroy us from within, as both the communists and Muslims have always said they would do.

America is dead.

You hear Mark Levin say it in his radio show teasers. A classy loser is still a loser. Levin says he's a loser forever.

If Obama wants to use the inauguration to attack his political foes, then he chose the battlefield. Republicans shouldn't hold back because it's the inauguration, or Obama will always find sacred ground to desecrate, knowing that his opponents revere them more than he does, and so will not fight back in kind.

Has he accomplished anything?

As he captured even a single centimeter of ground in this war for freedom?

I’m not really of a mind to cheer “trying” any longer. We are losing on every front, and our leaders are a bunch of cowards and turncoats.

Well, I AM from Wisconsin, although he’s not my rep, I must say I’m disappointed in the comments here on Freeper. Paul Ryan is one of the good guys. We conservatives will NEVER find a rep that we agree with 100% of the time.

Look at these comments! This is what The WON wants us to do. Eat our own. Don’t fall for this. The trash, low class folks that show their ignorance and level of education by booing / hollaring at Paul Ryan are the types that are slobbering on the O man today. Write a letter to the editor rather than taking it out on Paul Ryan, please.

I’ll back Paul Ryan any day as he has manners and IS respectful of the office of the president.

And yes, I am sick to my stomach that O was elected, although I figure it was by voter fraud.

Ryan should have stayed away. However, given his liberal tendencies lately, maybe he wanted to be there.

Good grief! Talk about eating our own!! Paul Ryan doesn't have 'liberal tendencies' he may simply have ideas that are not as conservative as yours. That doesn't make him a bad person, it doesn't even make him a bad legislator; it simply means he has some other opinions than you might have.

I believe it was right for Paul Ryan to attend the inauguration. He made it perfectly clear that he doesn't agree politically with Obama, and will work against him, but that this is how our country works.

He let down the country along with the guy who picked him as VP nominee. Time for him to think about where he is.

Neither Romney nor Ryan let the country down. When you have the deck stacked against you by a co-opted news media willing to give Obama billions in free campaign advertising in the guise of balanced journalism, little can be said or done to cut through that. 2012 was the single worst year of a horrible Obama presidency. The ONLY reason Obama survived to be re-elected is because the media got him there. The media covered up disasters and scandals from national security leaks in the spring to make Obama look good for his campaign (impeachable), to Fast & Furious and the absurd exec. privilege claim, to the lies and cover up of Benghazi, to the cover up of the botched federal response to Sandy and the true depths of the economic mess we're in, inc. falsifying job and employment numbers. Any one of these things would have been used to sink a Republican incumbent by the US news media. For Obama, they covered it all up. A little hard to win when you have that working against you.

"We serve alongside men and women from both parties, who govern in good faith and good will."

That was Ryan's quote, and my statement stands...it is bullsh*t, and Ryan knows it.

The intolerance of the Democrats of other American citizens is appalling and disrespectful.

When America was still a constitutional Republic with a majority of citizens respectful of the rights endowed to us, that would be unquestionably true and sufficient.

But now - it is also dangerous, because we no longer live in such a nation. We used to speak of the party not in power as "the loyal opposition". To the Progressives now in command - we conservatives are less than fully human, and thus not deserving of consideration as equals.

Do you think I exaggerate? That's understandable, given our long history of representative government. We are in a different place now, where radical Utopians are emboldened by the success of their politics and the weakness of their opponents.

To quote Mark Twain, history does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme. Listen to the tune in Obama's address today - it does not sing of liberty to achieve, but rather, of service to need. Gerald Ford once averred: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.

But the fundamental truth is that a government large enough to give you everything you want will first take everything you have.

We’ve got to start supporting people. We may not agree with them %100 (and frankly, I can’t think of anybody I agree with to that extent, because they’re them and I’m me) but we have to support them in any area where we can agree with them.

Unless you want to run for Congress or for the Senate, you’re not going to agree %100.

Support the person with whom you can most agree, pressure that person if you feel your position is important but not being respected, but look at the big picture.

Also, if you live anywhere conservative or even moderate, start getting your candidates up there yesterday.
