From 1921, when the contest began in Atlantic City, through World War II, only one woman representing a former Confederate state won the competition. Then, beginning in 1947, when a woman from Memphis earned the top honor, the fortunes of Southern contestants rose precipitously. From 1950 to 1963, seven southerners were crowned (each served the following year), including back-to-back wins by Mississippians in 1958 and 1959 though southerners made up only one-fifth of the possible winners.
These were, of course, the years when black Southerners opened a full-scale campaign against Jim Crow, prompting a bitter backlash by white Southerners. White resistance began in earnest in 1954, when the Supreme Court issued Brown v. Board of Education, its decision to desegregate public schools.

Southern Women are just more beautiful than most, that's why they win, it has nothing to do with this Jim Crow nonsense put out here.
Here in Texas, God bless’em all..... the long and the short and the tall.
Inner Beauty counts and shines through, which most “Southern belles” I've met have that and strength of character and conviction.
The old saying, “You can always tell a Texan but you can't tell’em much” applies to the women throughout my life. While it can be trying at times, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Extreme Leftists being racist again... and Extreme Leftists trying to segregate the North from the South again..
I am going to have to make some time to make an “Extreme Leftist” pic...
Well bless their little hearts

Don’t stray too far off the interstate on your way to Florida, buddy. One word: Deliverance
OH!! How could I forget to mention, this was written by an Extreme Leftist newspaper...
Yep....looked that up afterward, too. I live in NC....she’s the typical UNC Chapel Hill/Peoples Republic of Chapel Hill liberal drooling ballbuster b**ch who’s never been laid in her life.
Know the type ‘round these parts VERY well.
And WHY is that? Why do you HATE white women so much? What do they do that frightens you so much? What is SO worrying about that peaceful expression?
Maybe I misinterpreted your response, please explain.
“She would probably choke if she ever got a copy of ... Garden and Gun.”
I did for a while. They’d get letters to the editor telling them to drop the “Gun” content. The editor, clearly a lady, would reply with an eloquent paragraph amounting to “shove it”.
In my experience “Well bless your heat” means you are about to do something stupid.
My dad used to say “Do what you think’s best” meaning the same thing.
Example:
“Little Jimmy put wings on the lawn mower and is about to jump of the roof with it”
Southern Belle says “Well Bless your heart”
Southern Man says “Do what you think’s best”
Nothing racist here.
The ugly side of liberal Yankee women is a fact.
In some contexts, “bless your heart” is feminine southern politesse for “you ****ing idiot.” at a minimum, it means you’re to be pitied.
Words to watch out for.
Yep, pretty much means “You’re about to screw up”
And the rarely heard “ Bless their pea-pickin’ heart”
That’s BS!. I’ve strayed many times during my travels up and down the East Coast. Nothing but good experiences and friendly people.
“Thats BS!. Ive strayed many times during my travels up and down the East Coast. Nothing but good experiences and friendly people.”
All depends on what you like, my friend.
Bless your heart, but you couldn’t tell if someone was pulling your leg if they tied a 1000lb weight to it.
