The 3D scan of a disabled baby's smile that convinced his mother not to abort him - and why she is grateful she was able to cuddle him with joy for a few precious hours

A mother was unable to abort her severely disabled son despite doctors' warnings after seeing her baby's smile in a 3D scan picture.

Katyia Rowe was told her baby's brain had not formed properly and that he would never walk or talk and would need 24-hour care.

But after seeing real-time moving scans of him smiling, blowing bubbles, kicking and waving his arms she made the heartbreaking decision to go through with the birth. Tragically Lucian, as she named him, died nine hours after he was born.

My daughter was told that the child she carried would be “more medical trouble that it was worth” and that she should “just get rid of it now”.

“It” is now a healthy vibrant 5 year old born with no issues at all.

Bless this mother who was able to love and honor her child, even though for a short time.

A beautiful friend chose to deliver and love for a short time a baby who was anencephalic (born without a brain). God bless these families.

Blessedly his mother can live the rest of her life not feeling like a murderer.

God Bless and Rest his innocent, little sweet soul; at least he had a short taste of life. RIP, Lucian.

Doctors told my wife & I the same thing; he’s 9 now (no problems at all). I truly believe this serves 2 purposes: general population reduction (we already had other kids), as well as getting as many peoples’ hands dirty with this murderous act as possible so as to normalize it. One problem the baby-killing business is running into that is even worse than young people’s increasing revulsion towards the act (often not based on anything religious at all anymore) is that American “doctors” want no part in it. Part of this has been addressed by importing them from Asia (remember the guy who cut off the little baby girl’s arm in NYC, sent the mother packing, and she went on to deliver a one-armed baby?); they apparently have no scruples at all about this.

Considering that abortion was included among the crimes against humanity mentioned at Nuremberg, this doesn’t say much about our imported baby-killers.

Had she aborted, she would still have had to go through the discomfort of birth, and would not have had the joy and clear conscience that she has as a result of the decision she made. Additionally, she may well have suffered one or more of the many dangerous side affects of premature termination.

I hope this beautiful woman and her man marry and have a wonderful family! One thing he DOES know is that his children are safe in his chosen one’s arms. He never has to doubt, does he? He can trust her.

Lucky man! (no...blessed man! )

Well said; we certainly sleep easier (and at the time I got old really quickly; I just assumed the worst and spent months reflecting on how much things were going to change - all for naught).

Absolutely. With an abortion, she would have been left with guilt, and a fair level of uncertainty, wondering if the doctor could have been wrong. These feelings would have been compounded had she become infertile or unable to carry a child to term as a result of the abortion.

Our “It” was born healthy (my grandson) after my daughter and her husband refused to abort- Sure made the ethicist angry though when they refused to abort.
