In my experience as a provost marshal operations officer and as a provost marshal, I briefed a lot of senior military on crime stats and law and order issues. Sadly, this is the opinion of a lot of senior military, probably more the rule than the exception. I have my theories as to why that is the case, but my data is purely anecdotal and supposition.

Gen. Schwarzkopf, outspoken NRA member, was something of an anomaly.

Which is why I personally question the reasoning that says, in the event of a blatant attempt at confiscation and usurpation of our 2nd Amendment rights, the military and police will refuse their orders. I just don't see it happening.

I agree. I find that they actually KNOW much less about the actual document they have sworn to defend (and the founder’s intent) than most civilians at the same level. All those years under UCMJ have misguided them somewhat.

People rise to those position via some sort of "internal political" process, and at that level, there is a tendency for the club members to share the quality of being elitists. It's a condition for advancement.

Same holds true for judges and most elected politicians. They are elitists, and a majority of them would disarm the public, if they could.

"Sadly, this is the opinion of a lot of senior military, probably more the rule than the exception." Mine too, Joe. Most GO/Flags are nervous nellies about the troops having guns on base and even in government housing off-base. I've never really understood that. TC
