If I Were The Speaker Of The House
boortz.com ^ | Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 | Neal Boortz

And as we get into this, let’s remember that if frogs had wings they wouldn’t bump their ass every time they jumped. Got it? OK …..

We learned yesterday from Jamie Dupree that there is no Constitutional requirement for the Speaker of the House to actually be a member! In other words, the Republicans could make Jessica Simpson the Speaker today if they wished to .. and frankly she would probably do a better job than the weak-kneed man we have in there right now, and attendance at her press conferences would certainly go up.

But Jessica is pregnant and doesn’t want the job … so yesterday I announced on the air that I would gladly come out of retirement right now to take the job of Speaker if it is offered. Oh yeah! I would like to be the guy determining committee assignments and chairmanships and setting the agenda for legislation to be considered by the House.

The way things stand now the next Speaker is only going to serve two years. That would be because when the next Congress convenes in 2015 the Speaker of the House is going to be (gaaackkkk) Nancy Pelosi. The entitlement electorate is expanding and Democrats are poised to take even more power.

Let's hope Boehner really is toast after today and we don't get another RHINO. I say Allen West would be great.

re: “why not Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho for speaker?”

Doesn’t he become president in the future?

I like Allen West, don’t get me wrong, but he cannot even get re-elected. Why should he be elevated to Speaker?

If I were Speaker of the House, I would clip a webcam to my lapel, record everything said by me and to me from the moment I left my home until I returned that evening, and post the entire file on YouTube every single day.

No more back room deals.

If speaker need not be a member, with emphasis on “IF”, then he/she need not ever have run for office either. West is batting .500 in running for the house (and had to deal with negative drag from the GOP-e in his strikeout).

That said...

Consider Article 1 sec 2 and 3:

In sec 3, the Senate leader is NOT a member:

“The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate”

In sec 2, it would appear to implicitly say that the speaker need not be a member. By “other officers”, does that mean committee chairs (ie, members), or does it refer to the parliamentarian, Sargent at arms, etc (ie, not members)? it states:

“The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and OTHER OFFICERS;”

I like your idea!! I certainly would not roll over with being threatened or blackmailed. I would expose any such efforts.

If I were Speaker, I’d issue this statement:

“To date, the President has failed to follow through on ANY of the promises he’s made, regarding compromise or negotiations on spending, and has exempted his contributors from his tax increases, or the costs of his Obamacare mandates.”
“Because of this lack of integrity and follow through, there is no point in engaging with him in the future.”
“To be lectured about “fairness”, while he exempts his friends and contributors, will no longer go unremarked.”
“We are through negotiating against ourselves, and will not move, until the President has made good on his end of the bargin.”

"there is no Constitutional requirement for the Speaker of the House to actually be a member"

Wouldn't it be nice to have a patriotic American with a backbone and character? Just an idea.

Twenty or so Dems will vote for the RINO if it looks like he’s going to not get a majority.
