IT'S OFFICIAL: HOUSE PASSES FISCAL CLIFF BILL
Business Insider ^ | 01/01/2013 | Joe Weisenthal and Grace Wyler

Posted on 01/01/2013 8:07:58 PM PST by SeekAndFind

After a long day of fiscal cliff chaos, the House will finally hold a vote tonight on the fiscal cliff bill passed by the Senate early Tuesday.

The decision to hold an up-down vote virtually guarantees passage of the bill, which would extend the Bush tax hikes for households earning under $450,000. that the bill will pass.

For most of the day, House Republicans have said that they could not support the bill without spending cuts, but by Tuesday night it was clear that GOP leaders could not come up with the votes to pass an amendment to add those cuts.

The House Rules Committee announced that there will be a vote on the unamended Senate bill in the 9 p.m. hour. Check out all of the days developments below.

At that point the Republican leadership seems long on gestures of disagreement but are clearly still playing ball on anything the democrats want.

The Democrats don’t have the traction they need to hold this country, whether the “opposition” tosses in with them isn’t going to change what happens in 2 years.

As for this tragedy, again given time and a new government willing to do good for this country and good citizens willing to push said government.....then the mistakes of these last few years can be erased.

Give the Rats a couple of election cycles, they will also disintegrate.
The centrists won’t want to own the coming inflation disaster. The Democrats with brains will break away from the outright socialists.

I don’t know if Ron is calling it quits or not. I haven’t paid attention, to be honest. But it seems a nay vote would have been a good thing for him either way.
It’ll be interesting to hear what they have to say about their lack of voting on the bill, IF they give an explanation.

>> 90 plus percent of the Republicans we send to Washington are finger in the wind business as usual politicians.

It’s certainly not that bad.

It seems we spend more time anticipating and complaining instead of cultivating our district candidates. We’re behaving like spectators instead of directors. And by “we”, I mean any group of citizens that gives a damn — not to single out those raising flags.

Do you understand what it means to have Republicans vote for MIDDLE CLASS tax cuts?

Class Warfare was finally officially supported by the GOP and Obama as well as every other Marxist in America are laughing and high fiving so hard they wet themselves.

This was as large an ideological victory as socialized medicine,TARP and crypto commie CJ John Roberts for the America hating constitution shredding Left... and the conservatives of America have the RINO GOP-e to thank.

If Boehner is still speaker Thursday evening there will be an out and out revolt!

The Marxist influence is strong. But it won’t last.

Every Republican who voted yes on this hateful and shameful surrender to socialism...AND every Republican in the House who waited until it passed BEFORE voting no MUST BE PURGED!!!

Funny how they did this while all the “conservative” talkradio personalities were on vacation...almost like it was planned that way.

...kind of thought maybe at least Rush or Levin would have helped fight the fight anyway with something THIS big...
...oh well.

“How did he even vote? He does not get sworn in until Thursday, the 3rd.”

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was talking about AFTER he is seated.

I know he’ll come in like a lion, I’m just wondering how long it will take idiotic Washington environment to neuter him.

Cruz had to stand alone against almost the entire Republican establishment to get elected, so he has some sand. I’m hoping at least two - four strong years out of him.

I almost despair that any good person can swim in that cesspool for very long and remain upright.

The answer would be; To not send them to DC where they get scorched by the progressive presses, close down DC and let them get scorched by the people that voted them in.

Probably not...it's like the kids who break the window during a sandlot game and then run away:

“Who did it?”

“Why none of them—don't believe me just ask them!”

The vote was 257 to 167.

Boner had 40 more GOP votes than he needed for passage.

He wouldn’t have held the vote unless he had done a head count and had the votes.

According to Levin’s facebook page he will be back tomorrow night.

Cutting his vacations short. I expect his blood pressure is a bit high and he’s got a lot to say.

Republicans seem to pride themselves on crossovers and open primaries. Sauce for the goose.

“We’re to accept that Mitt wanted to win...badly. You said it yourself. But at the same time we’re to accept that he sanctioned a son and an aide to go out and say that he never wanted to run in the first place. You said that, too.

The two things don’t go together.”

Sure they do. It is resolved as a lying, sorry excuse.

The perfect epitome of Willard Mitt Romney.

If Willard didn’t like what his rodent representatives are saying, he would contradict him. Such weasels at every turn, all of them. Him and all his gaggle of credulous acolytes. I wonder how many dug deep for him to send me and others photos of himself that were tossed in the trash on arrival.

“The only Repubican NO vote from conviction was that of Rand Paul.”

1. You can’t read minds. Rubio believes in America and he voted NO.

2. I could make the same claim on Rand Paul.

3. I don’t trust Rand’s military and foreign policy policy due to his nutty father.

right, let me know how that’s going too.

conservatism is on its way to being a fringe party,
since no one has yet been able to make the sale.

all we seem to have is a bunch of obnoxious ill-tempered old a##holes shouting about RINOs.

get over yourselves. its not a white mans country anymore.
