New York Governor: Gun Confiscation on the Table
Townhall.com ^ | December 21, 2012 | Katie Pavlich

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is getting his gun control proposals ready and they're looking pretty unconstitutional.

He added that he was focusing his attention on changing state laws restricting the possession of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. The governor described the state’s existing ban on those items as having “more holes than Swiss cheese.”

“I don’t think legitimate sportsmen are going to say, ‘I need an assault weapon to go hunting,’ ” he said. At the same time, he noted that he owns a shotgun that he has used for hunting, and said, “There is a balance here — I understand the rights of gun owners; I understand the rights of hunters.”

In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose, but, while discussing assault weapons, he said: “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.

Yes, Cuomo is actually suggesting authorities confiscate private property that belongs to law abiding Americans. He is also suggesting permitting these guns, which would put law abiding citizens into a data base and expose to criminals where they can go to steal guns for improper use.

The 2A was not to guarantee the hunter his rights, as you claim to understand. What you fail to grasp is it purpose to protect us from politicians like you and the tyrannical Government you want to impose on us.

Bloomberg would be condemning many Leos to an early death in such an undertaking.

It can be on the table. Table exersizes are useful.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they aren't.

Field roll out is going to be a bloody, messy cluster fornication.

I'm sure that there were a hundred thousand "conservative" voters who didn't vote, voted for their local crony democrat, or just voted third party in districts where pubs could have pulled it out and had a solid majority in the state legislatures so the rat governor couldn't pull this crap.....

when will people learn....you can not have a divided front against evil...

This I gotta see.

It'll be the same as it's been since before Kipling wrote his stanzas.

It'll be the 'same old way' and a bloody mess.

Obviously in little Andrews world the second amendment is not an option, so how long will it be that he goes after the first amendment, you know just for the public good. After all dissent has such a bad effect on a good orderly society. Oh and let’s not forget hail the government, it is only here to help us, yeah that’s it just to help us.

It’s got to be tried at the state level first, to work out logistics, legal, and other issues. Like Romneycare.

I thought that California already banned a rifle that they first required registration of, and then later ordered them turned in.

Ross Perot supported door to door confiscation, for those that remember him fondly.
