A young boy and girl died this morning after they and two other children were left home alone in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, officials say.

The girl, 2, and the boy, 3, were found in a back bedroom after firefighters cut through burglar bars on the brick and stone two-flat in the 6400 block of South Paulina Street.

"Please, sergeant, please," a relative pleaded with an officer outside the home. "They're 2 and 3 years old."

Poor kids, sad news. Were they without adult supervision? The article mentions questioning the aunt and mom but nothing about questioning the dad?

This is very sad. Will the Democrats demand Fire Control or banning fire?

Sad sad. A father and three children died in a fire in our little town last month. Terrible loss. Mom barely made it out.

I went looking for a list of things that are more deadly than guns. I found this;

6 things more deadly than a gun

1. Gasoline: Few common things are as dangerous as gasoline. It's vapors will explode with an incredible amount of force.
   http://andyarthur.org/fodder/country/gasdanger.html

2. A Knife: In fact, if you’re involved in hand-to-hand combat, a knife is more dangerous than a gun.
It’s more difficult to disarm someone of a knife, the knife will never “jam” or “misfire,” and many other things.
   http://www.ajgraves.com/2012/07/americas-victim-mentality/

3. Automobiles: A motor vehicle weighs many thousands of pounds, and if driven carelessly, it can lead to tragedy. People are lectured about gun safety and made aware of the associated dangers.
However, a motor vehicle, a "simple" object that transports you daily, is far more dangerous than a gun.

4. A Stepfather: A stepfather in the home is 30 times more dangerous to a child ages 0-14 than a gun in the home.
    http://lists.ucla.edu/pipermail/conlawprof/2008-July/032529.html

5. Domestic cleaning products: Domestic cleaning products are more dangerous than a gun. According to the National Safety Council, more children under the age of four die of
accidental poisonings at home than are accidentally killed by guns at home.
   http://www.cafemom.com/journals/read/1536514/Your_home_cleaning_products_are_more_dangerous_than_a_gun

6. A Swimming Pool: What’s more dangerous: a swimming pool or a gun? When it comes to children, there is no comparison: a swimming pool is 100 times more deadly.
     http://wacki.wordpress.com/2006/12/17/swimming-pool-is-100-times-more-deadly-than-guns/

I would add, fire, alcohol, baseball bats and golf clubs and bathtubs to the list. I really wanted to find a list of most deadly things by year along with numbers. oh, the most important deadly thing is communism. We are likely to see that here in the USA, if we are not careful.
