PHILADELPHIA - It's a union protest designed to bring you to tears.
Residents at the Vista apartment building on the 2800 block. of N. 47th St. in Philadelphia's Wynnefield section are losing their minds over a recording played by protesters from IBEW local 98.
Last Wednesday, the union set up an iPod and loudspeakers that plays this recorded message: "Your community is crying for jobs, participation and fair wages." It's what comes next that brings a tear to the eye: an extended crying jag by a seemingly fussy infant.
The recording- which began last Wednesday- runs each weekday from around 8 a.m. to mid-afternoon.
"I know everybody says they've got their rights," says longtime apartment resident Jean Smith, "and that's fine. But don't we have rights too, that we have to hear this constantly- every day?"
The electricians are protesting the use of a non-union contractor to do electrical work on renovations at the apartment building.

How apropropos.
You can bet your sweet ass that kid ain’t AFTRA.
If I were on the jury ...
I would vote to acquit.
I’d like to see at least two more states push ahead on Right to Work. The unions are becoming increasingly aggressive and more fights will push them over the edge and cause even more people to turn against them.
Noise ordinances should be easy to enforce.
oh I almost forgot , the police are the government, the government no longer protects the people, they just harrass and rob the people

By the way, the building owner says union electricians were offered the chance to bid on the work at Vista, but that a non-union contractor won the job.
So ... the union thugs cannot compete on merit with Liberty Labor ... so they resort to thuggery, extortion, and petty terrorism.
They are abusing 'free speech' to assault the civil society. It is for this reason that I would not hold members of the civil society criminally liable for forcibly silencing the union thugs.
I doubt this is a recording of a babay. More likely it is grown Union members crying because they see power leaking away from them.
By unionized cops?
Unions don't believe in "rights" unless it brings THEM personal power. For example - they want to deny people the right to decide whether they want to join a union or not. They want to force people to join them, and then they extort money out of them afterwords to support their own political causes. They use them as political slaves against their will.
I am pretty sure most, if not all of the residents are elderly black folks.
Does anyone want to head down to City Ave with me this weekend and start a counter protest?
I’m really get tired of these union thugs, even if they are actually terrorizing Obama voters in this instance.
So the unions are just being racists. Isn't that how the democrats play the racists game?
“”It’s well within the law,” says Dougherty. “It’s within the first amendment. I’m not apologizing.”
That’s fine. It’s also within the law for me to pass by your iPod and speakers everyday while I take my high-powered magnet for a walk.
Perhaps a pro-life group ought to play the sounds of crying babies on loudspeakers outside abortion clinics...
Which according to the Supreme Court, is not illegal.
