But relaxing draconian regulations and reducing the highest corporate tax rate on the entire planet in order to attract more jobs to US shores just cannot ever be in the deal, can it? Keep them out of work and miserable? That isn’t a fiscal cliff, then: it’s a fiscal abyss.

Delay the extension for about 6 months. That will wake them up that maybe they might be better off getting a job. And if there is no jobs, then thank King Obama for killing off the job market. The Republicans had nothing to do with it.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

And now we know how he intends to fund it.

It’s 99 weeks now. Almost two years. Now they want to extend it even longer Lots just make it permanent. Once you are on it you stay till you die. That solves everything. /sar

Hovering in the background of the “fiscal cliff” debate is the prospect of 2 million people losing their unemployment benefits four days after Christmas.

Not sure why the Democrats want to extend unemployment benefits AGAIN .... the easier thing for them to do is let them fall off the rolls, watch the unemployment rate fall (because millions are no longer counted as "unemployed") and declare success at re-vitalizing the economy!

(/extreme sarcasm)

If the benefits are eliminated won’t the unemployment rate drop even further?

“Many of these people are struggling to pay mortgages, to provide education for their children,”

If this Democrat is so worried about these poor people, why doesn't he denounce the Democrat Party for causing the misery in the first place?
