Santorum: 'I'm open' to 2016 bid

(CNN) - Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum hinted Monday he may see another presidential run in his future.

"I'm open to that possibility," the Republican said when asked on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" about a 2016 White House bid.

"But we're a long way..." he added, pausing, then continuing, "I'm focused right now on trying to stay involved in the fray and make sure that we do the right thing up on Capitol Hill right now."

Santorum proved a tough opponent to Mitt Romney during the Republican presidential primary, ultimately forcing the contest to run as late as April when Santorum dropped his bid and paved the way for Romney to clinch the nomination.

The reality is that Santorum was anti-Reagan and called himself a “progressive conservative” and worked for liberal republicans while mocking the right wingers of the Reagan camp.

Reagan passed the torch to Newt Gingrich, not to the man who disliked of Reagan and thought that he was too conservative, and who mocked him.

Nancy Reagan, Reagan’s wife, has stressed Gingrich’s close relationship with her late husband.

In a 1995 speech at a dinner honoring Ronald Reagan, Nancy said: “The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.”

Santorum was the worst contender of 2012 primary season.

Well you know what they say about opinions. Everyone has one and all that.

We have the lowest voter turnout of any nation in the U.S.A .

Can't argue with that. We have the highest too.

Why don’t you find the proof before you spread the lie?

The media would be all over a story like that, it would huge, massive, and everywhere.

All you have to do is look at her on FOX , it’s quite obvious . It’s all over the place , you can look it up for yourself. In fact, just compare the photos on this thread , what a shame , she didn’t need to do it .

Lay off of it, spreading internet lies about the top republican leader is disgusting,

and the lying doesn’t exactly help your image either.

There is no question that Governor Palin is the top republican leader, the conservative leader, and the single most influential endorsement and outside campaigner of either party.

There is also no question that the media would be all over Palin and plastic surgery.

Rather than you continuing your smarmy attack, why not just post some reputable sources for this major news story?

(Santorum) “I won my first four races. I’m four out of five — not bad — and three of the first four races I ran twice for the House, once against this incumbent Democrat.

The second time I got redistricted into a 71% Democratic district against another incumbent Democrat. I won that seat. The third time I ran for the Senate in Pennsylvania with 600,000 more registered Democrats Republicans, against another Democratic incumbents, I won that — and then in 2000 when George Bush lost the state by four points I won it by five. In 2006 it was a horrible election year,”

Here’s what the naysayers keep leaving out. :)

They already have turned up to start beating on him. They can’t help themselves. Conservatives never learn. Beating up conservatives has left us with two moderates, and I guess it’s time to do it again. I supported Santorum last election and could see myself doing so again. That said, I’m not going to bash other consrvatives. Last time, Rick was bashed relentlessly on here by a group of Gingrich and Romney supporters. What do you want to bet 2016 leads to a battle of conservatives while the GOP moderate parades in again?

Unfortunately, they are ready for round two. We have enough problems with liberals trying to destroy us, but to see conservatives destroying one of their own, on the largest conservative site no less, is frustrating beyond belief.

Actually, Newt stayed in until Santorum was dead, costing him Ohio and Michigan and swinging the race in favor of Romney. Santorum won more states and had more votes than Gingrich.

They spend more time bashing Santorum than they do Obama. If it’s not Santorum, it will be someone else who is not their favorite candidate. Too much group think around here, imo.
