BOSTON American politics may be headed back to the future.
Four years after the country elected a 40-something African-American newcomer named Barack to the presidency, a more familiar political order is poised to reassert itself: the House of Clinton representing Democrats and the House of Bush atop the GOP.
The restoration of either is no sure thing, but whats certain is that Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush loom the largest over their respective parties as the long road toward 2016 begins. Any other would-be presidential candidate will first take a long look toward Chappaqua and Miami before moving forward.
Clinton, particularly, freezes her partys 2016 nomination process starting at this moment. After barely falling short in 2008 and earning high marks and soaring approval ratings in four years as Americas top diplomat, she unambiguously has the strongest claim on being the next Democratic standard-bearer. If, and it is a big unknown, she wants another shot at the presidency.
Bush, were he to run, most likely wouldnt clear the field in the way Clinton could. But his gravitas, fundraising capability, Florida roots and entree to Hispanics makes him the most formidable Republican on a sparkling roster of potential 2016 contenders.

"NO! TEH STUPID BURNZ! MAK IT STOP!!!"
“2016 election: Hillary Clinton vs. Jeb Bush?”
Oh puhleeezeee! For the love of heaven, do we now have to endure salt in the wounds too? Give it a rest and let us go heal our wounds before we have to deal with this cr@p again!
Besides, Joe B’s gonna run, and O’s gonna become president of the UN. We’ll have empty chairs everywhere...
Benghazi? What are you talikng about? There's nothing to see there. If there was, I'm sure the investigation that Obama ordered would have uncovered it by now. That story has gone the way of Fast and Furious.
I wish there was a barf alert because I glanced at the title and now I am barfing.
Rubio looks like a good candidate. If he can some how champion real immigration reform (not amnesty) in the next few years, he would draw more latino support.
Which do you want him to do: non-amnesty type reform or draw latino support?
Here we go again. The Fourth Estate working on conservative defeat 2016 already.
I couldn’t care less. I’m so done. Going forward, it’s all about survival for my family.
This is just silly. Those two are yesterday’s candidates. I don’t know who will run next time, but Hillary is finished. And the thought of another Bush in the White House is irrational.
As if Dear Leader will step down in 2016. What a laugh.
Did you notice that during the 2008 campaign, various people entered the race, but they actually functioned as blockers, as in football, to make sure that McCain crossed the goal line to become the nominee? Without conservatives able to unite behind one man, McCain could not be tackled.
Did you notice the same thing in 2012 with respect to Romney carrying the ball? All this was orchestrated by the Republican Establishment to make sure that another Reagan type, free of their control, could never be nominated.
The same thing will happen in 2016. Candidates will enter the race at the behest of the Republican Establishment to make sure that insurgents cannot unite behind one man and break their control.
Jeb Bush will cross the finish line. At that point, the Tea Party will have to decide whether to go third party or do what they did this year. The bogeyman -- or bogeywoman -- in this case will be Hillary.
I don’t think either party wants either one of them.
The Democratic nomination will be a battle between NY governor Andrew Cuomo and (by then) NJ governor or Senator Cory Booker.
“After Benghazi, Hillary Clinton is toast.”
Right, just like 0bama was toast after Benghazi.
That’s what I like about dynasties — there’s alway someone waiting to step up to the plate — even if they are old re-treads.
You know — I pity the fool who is the next president.
If that is the choice forced on us, than ef it, I will stay home.
If that's going to happen, they need to do it NOW!
NOOOOOOOO!!
I hate political dynasties. They are anathema to a country that is supposed to give broad opportunities for the best to rise to the top.
You cant’ tell me that in a nation with over 300 million people that there isn’t a competent Republican available whose name isn’t Bush.
No!
Stay out da Bushes.
Cuomo is the odds on favorite....on the Republican side, I think we have lots of people who can do it. Marco is an obvious front runner.
