I’m down in Philly and we call them N’oreasters. All along the coast north of the NC/VA border, when these storms start intensifying just off the Carolina coastine, the winds start to pick up from the Northeast and then gradually start shifting around counterclockwise as the storm moves up the coast.
Amazing how people get attuned to shifts in the wind, it’s temp and moisture level and I suspect even a bit of electricity in the air somehow.
