Staten Island resident John Tabacco told Neil Cavuto this morning that Staten Island is still alone. ** There is no federal help. ** The feds just drive by with their clipboards. ** We just found three more dead people in the pile this morning.John Tabacco on the situation in Staten Island:
This morning were distributing stuff here and were helping people dig out and we hear the sanitation guys scream out that there are bodies in the pile. Everybody jumps on the pile and starts pulling away debris. And, unfortunately, probably not reported right now, it was probably an hour and a half ago, certainly three more people deceased. God bless them We keep seeing these huge convoys of FEMA and Janet Napolitano and Homeland Security driving by with clipboards writing things down. But theres not a single soul in the street. We have volunteers and other people coming out giving water from their own homes. People need gloves. People need blankets and you can get to these homes. The question is, where is the government assistance?
More Its like the Wild West: Lawlessness and fear take over the outer boroughs as they enter sixth day without power ** Residents claim they are the forgotten victims of Sandy ** Also say that lack of power and law enforcement means more looting and violent crime ** Those in stricken areas stockpiling weapons like kitchen knives, machetes, and bats to protect themselves ** Coney Island residents say they are forced to scavenge for food like animals ** Power unlikely to be returned to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island until sometime next week Hat Tip Gini
Please give what you can to the Salvation Army or Catholic Charities to help those in need.

I was recently at a wedding there and this is one area where I wouldn’t be surprised if racism played a role. Staten Islanders, from my experience, are the most racist people I have come across, and I am from the South. The are fine with gun grabbing and gays, but they hate ni####s. The N word is actually common vocabulary in a casual conversation. I couldn’t believe it.
This is essentially all the federal government’s fault.
When they say leave, they need to explain what they mean.
leave [leev]
Show IPA verb, left, leav·ing.
verb (used with object)
1. to go out of or away from, as a place: to leave the house.
2. to depart from permanently; quit: to leave a job.
I feel so sorry for those people on the eastern seaboard who didn’t understand do to confusing instructions with such complicated words.

FEMA told us we have to find our own place to live. They will not help us find temporary housing. So far I have reached out to Catholic Charities, my Republican councilman and my Republican Congressman. I am sick to my stomach over this, yet I consider myself lucky because I only lost “things” and not my loved ones or my pets.
Mayor Bloomberg is a putz.
Lottie - this is unbelievable! I am here in NJ with no gas but I have an apartment still standing, with heat. From what I can see, there isn’t much of Staten Island that is still standing... How about the Salvation Army? Any local churches still around? Is there a shelter open where you can get a shower?
Do ya think nannyobama is gonna help? He doesn’t need votes in NY, NJ or CT.
Well, it sounds like they are finally getting busy instead of staying in what’s left of their houses, waiting for FEMA and suffering.
Finding dead bodies after gulf storms, that is a sad occurance that will happen for a long time to come.
I wonder if the neighbors have figured out who stayed through the storm and is missing yet.
Anyone who can, should get in there and do something to help these people. Sorry to say, they need to move out of the flood waters and rebuild as commuters once electric and sewers are restored. Renters and people with no flood insurance, need to pull up roots and relocate.
Sadly, the liberals are going to try and block their return for agenda 21. That could be why the state and feds are ignoring them.
Never forget edge weapons and hammer-type’weapons. At the same time have gear that can help protect you from them as well.
In reality this is what awaits any part of the country, we are seeing exactly what was predicted would occur. If you think it ain’t coming to your area you’re naive, these people didn’t either. “Not this bad” is their rationalization. Stock up on fuel now. Hydrogen peroxide. White vinegar. Canned goods with meat and beans in them. Get stuff you eat normally and rotate into your supplies. Batteries. Extra clothing, maybe a small pocket sewing machine. Non-power hand tools.
Use coupons and shop on deal days to lower costs further.
The skinny president and the fat governor said everything was under control because they hugged each other......aaaah. Just think that sweet thought when it gets dark again, and colder, and your children are crying for hunger.
Government is so totally worthless and is paying off the connected with trillions of dollars that belong to us.
From the Rockies to the Great Lakes the Northern tier of states routinely gets pasted almost every winter with blizzards and Alberta clippers. We're used to it, we dig out and check our neighbors, hunker down and prepare for the next one.
I've lived in this area for all my life and have never seen FEMA or any other government agency distributing freebies. The only time we hear from Uncle Sam is when it's tax time, otherwise, we are forgotten (and we like it that way!)

GtG
PS Getting to be time to close the bedroom window...
The Salvation Army is my favorite "person charity, too."
I can still remember as a kid of maybe 12 when my mother warned me about the Red Cross. It seems that they were, in her opinion, a charity that wanted your bucks and your recognition and their assistance was close to nothing, whereas the SA is an organization which is on the ground and helping.
“He doesnt need votes in NY, NJ or CT.”
Now if you were in OH or CO, you’d have FEMA’s deluxe package of home delivery pizza, laundry delivery and maid service. Too bad.
My parish is helping a lot. So are the others as well as the Protestant fellowships. It is so scary. I am heart sick. FEMA IS TOTALLY USELESS. My husband is so freaking stubborn. He actually believes that I am willing to go back into that hellhole once it is cleaned up. There is no way on earth that I will especially since we have been flooded in the past. Pray for all the victims of hurricane Sandy. We are going to need all the prayers we can get.

The MSM is planning to stop by to do an extensive report...next Wednesday.
It's not FEMA's job to "help" -- they "manage" disasters (check out their name) -- to get the most political mileage out of them...
At the fires here in Texas, they reportedly turned away fire equipment with trained crews -- so they could bring in their own identical equipment and say, "Look what FEMA did!"
At least one local sheriff threatened to lock up the whole lot of them if they didn't get the h3!! out of the way...
I’m from AL....you can imagine what folks think about us! Bull Conner is long gone in this state. B’ham has had a black mayor for years!
