Mitt Romney's campaign on Saturday launched an online fundraising initiative to to raise $7 million in 7 days so the campaign could expand the electoral map to "blue states" formerly firmly in the Obama column.
Potential donors who visit the appropriately named "expand the map" site are asked to "Contribute now to help Romney-Ryan and the Republican team keep up the fight."
"We need your help to raise $7 million in the next 7 days," the site says. "Your contribution will help us expand the electoral map -- we'll take our message into new states, and defeat Obama's billion-dollar machine." Obama is holding onto slim leads in many states he won by double digits in 2008, and the battle in the final week of the campaign is being fought in those states -- like Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and even Minnesota. By putting Obama on defense in those states, Romney's campaign is hoping Obama could be made more vulnerable in crucial states like Ohio and Virginia.

Mitt’s on a roll. We didn’t think the b@st@rd could do it, but he looks like he will. “Preference cascade.”
With the storm forcing him off the East Coast now he has some serious time to dedicate to this.
It is an ill wind that blows not good! ;-)
He’d really get points if post-hurricane he encouraged people to donate to the Red Cross for disaster relief for Sandy. Might shut up the “he don’t care ‘bout us” people.
Even better if he offered some of his campaign funds and asked Obama to match them.
Mitt’s actually been pretty good about quiet charity. We may disagree starkly with Mormon theology, but they aren’t a religion that teaches selfishness.
I’d fear it would only engender cynical catcalls, however, to do it pre-election. Afterwards would be a different story, and if as he appears poised to do he wins, it would be a magnanimous move, especially if done to areas that did not fall into his column.

Romney uses campaign buses for hurricane relief
I got to wonder if the Hound of Heaven is on Mitt’s case. That he will actually come to a small-o orthodox Christian faith in Jesus Christ — mormon bishop or no. People being stalked by this Hound sometimes first react in ways that will echo their later faith — the character of God inspires them before they come to personal recognition.
Something you might want to support. I just sent in another contribution myself.
He’s got to win!! I have donated several times to Romney but this week got a phone call asking for a donation of four times what I donated previously. It was such an annoying call I wondered whether it was a Zero call. They wouldn’t let me hang up and ignored what I was saying. The first lady told me she would pass me to a supervisor to confirm that I would give online, wanted to send me a confirmatiohn via snail mail, then kept me “on hold” while reading talking points to me. They both ignored what I was saying when I told them over and over that I would pay online and would not donate on a phone call. I was on the call for SIX MINUTES and actually shouted at the “supervisor” telling her to listen to me. I finally hung up with the supervisor still talking.
We should pray for him to come out of Mormonism. God delivers people from it all the time.
AMEN!!! I just prayed that prayer earlier today!!!! How ironic you should say that...
Maybe God has a plan afoot....
Well, that would fit in with obimbo’s “Leading from Behind”.
Free Republic donation first now Romney Ryan
Told myself I wasn’t going to make any political contributions this year. But damn, we are too close to fumigating the White House of the Marxist stench to lose it now. I donated $100 to RomneyVictory.com
There went another $50.
I’ve been praying that prayer for him and his family, as well as for their protection now through the Inauguration.
