The often fiercely political debate over who knew what - and when - about the September 11 assault on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi has taken another turn with the disclosure of a series of e-mails sent from the State Department on the night of the attack.
But the most explosive of the e-mails - which were released late Tuesday - may have been inaccurate, a "spot report" on a rapidly evolving and highly confusing situation.
The disclosure of the e-mail has given new life to the already fevered debate over when the Obama administration learned that the attack was more than a protest that turned deadly but was the work of terrorists.
The e-mail carried the subject line: "Update 2: Ansar al Sharia Claims Responsibility For Benghazi Attack." The message said: "Embassy Tripoli reports the group has claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli."
That message was sent to a wide range of federal offices, including the FBI, from the State Department at 6:07 p.m. ET on September 11 - seven minutes into September 12 in Libya. At that time, the attack on the consulate was ongoing, and the subsequent assault on the annex building, in which two more Americans would be killed, had not begun.

So what if they can’t corroborate the email’s claims? At the time, the administration should have accepted its findings. What difference does it make if they cannot verify its contents now? Absolutely irrelevant.
A terrorist group in the middle of the attack nobody knows about but the administration claims “credit”... And that’s not evidence?

CBS BUSTS OBAMA—AND ITSELF—IN BENGHAZI COVER-UP
CBS News has released a clip of an interview by Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes on Sep. 12 with President Barack Obama that indicates Obama knew the assault on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya was a premeditated terror attack—and suggests the White House later deceived the public by blaming protests against an anti-Islam video. CBS chose not to air the clip for over a month—but did air Obama’s attack on Romney that same night.
Obama told Kroft that the attack in Benghazi was different from the violent protest at the U.S. embassy in Cairo: “You’re right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt, and my suspicion is, is that there are folks involved in this who were looking to target Americans from the start.”
Obama’s remarks pointed towards a premeditated attack, in contrast to the story the White House went on to tell for weeks.
CBS chose not to air that portion of the interview with President Obama—not even in the days and weeks that followed, when it was highly relevant—first to the question of the nature of the Benghazi attack, then to the question of whether the president had in fact called it an act of terror from the start.
The Benghazi atrocity shows up how Team Obama have been leading the MSM around by their noses for years, and the MSM have been more than willing to be complicit in lies and deceptions.
As the Obama team changed the Benghazi narrative, almost daily, the MSM jumped right onboard and changed their ‘reporting’ to reflect the ever-changing narrative.
The MSM have become little more than propaganda tools for Obama.
