Did you get the ironic bit at the end of Oprah’s recollection? Michelle sat her down and kept going over and over again about how good the White House pastry chefs were. Why they made the best pies, she kept telling her over and over again. Oprah took that as a big fat cue, yet their chat ended and-no pie-”I got no pie.”

Yep, and the important consideration is that he wasted, as you said , four years that WE can never get back.HE doesn’t have to get them back, he exploited them every day for all his time in office, and two weeks from now, a gentle and disbelieving sadness will fall over him as he realizes he won’t be allowed any more time at all as the center of attention, yet, even now, delusionally deep-down, he must still expect MORE partying,golfing, celebrity appearances, fund-raising,(what a bitch that was-—too much like real work!) and the opportunity for more vapidly high-falutin’ speeches which are nothing but his signature passport into a perpetual
flavor-of-the-week credibility.So sad he and Mooshy will not have any more of their taxpayer funded Good Times, where they got to play King and Queen of the New Order.
Having said all that this piece by Daniel Greenberg is the best and bluntest thing about the Obama Phenomenon I’ve ever read. A post-mortem delivered two full weeks before he gets the message from a majority of US.
