The remains of Army Spc. Brittany B. Gordon, the daughter of St. Petersburg assistant police chief Cedric Gordon, arrived early Monday at Dover Air Force Base.

Brittany Gordon, 24, is believed to be the first female soldier from the Tampa Bay area killed in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Her family was notified of her death Saturday. Details of her death have not been released by the military.

I have only seen this story in local news sites/tv and in the Army Times...wonder why they haven't released details of her death and don't deaths, especially of women, in Afghanistan usually make national news? In another article I read that all three children of the Gordon's are in the military. So sad.

I feel the same way. It has gone on too long. We’re not in the business of nation building. those savages do not deserve a nation, particularly one built by us. It is obscene to lose the best among us this way.

God bless Spec. B. B. Gordon and surround her family and friends with Your Love and Care to help them to remember the good times, even as they mourn this horrible loss.

Shut Afghanistan down, bring back ALL military. Let them fight each other out and then, maybe, we can help the survivors. And, by help, I do not mean give them bucks, military stuff, or American soldiers.

"They" do not care for us; we need to not care for them and take care of ourselves before we can take care of ourselves before we can help others.

Maybe food, water, that's it. We are hemorrhaging our best and brightest in this cell hole. We need to strengthen American from enemies within and without.

Post Obama, we need to regain OUR strength first before we are in the ability and business to help others.
