On February 19, 1976, Attorney General Bill Baxley of Alabama reopened an investigation, that had been previously closed, and that eventually led to the prosecution of a man for the infamous 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, in which three little girls were killed--in church on Sunday morning. On the reopening of the investigation, he received a letter from the local Ku Klux Klan that included a death threat.
This was Baxley’s reply:

William Joseph Baxley II was born 27 June 1941 in Dothan, Alabama and graduated from the law school of the University of Alabama in 1964. He served as Attorney General of Alabama two terms, 1971-1979, and one term as Lieutenant Governor of Alabama, 1983-1987.
As attorney general, he became famous for his case against the Ku Klux Klan for the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in September 1963.
