Legal Insurrection ^ | 9/19/2012 | William Jacobson

You do realize that there actualy are some Patriotic Millionaires, don’t you?

Guys like Warren Buffet and others who insist that people pay higher taxes, but don’t take the chance to pay voluntarily.

Like this guy, who turned out to be a plant by a group called the Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength, begging Obama to raise his taxes:
**snip**
Now is their chance to belly up to the Buffet(t):

"The House on Wednesday passed Republicans’ own version of the Buffett Rule, which allows wealthy Americans to voluntarily pony up to reduce the deficit."

That's been allowed for years. It's not widely known and it's not advertised however. The 1040 should feature the same line that the Massachusetts state income tax return does...a line which gives taxpayers the opportunity to voluntarily pay more in taxes than state law requires.A local Boston talk host mentions this from time to time, always pointing out that in one recent year about 200 returns opted to pay the higher tax...out of a population of 6 million.

Yeah, it’s a political stunt, much like it is every time they teeter out ole Warren “tax us, but not me” Buffet to persuade the nimrods how amazingly compassionate he is.

Mike Huckabee did this in Arkansas. He called it the Tax Me More Bill. Nobody paid up, however.

Gifts to the United States Government

How do I make a contribution to the U.S. government?

Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called “Gifts to the United States.” This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D
Hyattsville, MD 20782

(these guys drive me batty - there’s already an avenue for people that want to pay more to pay more to the government)

RE “The House on Wednesday passed Republicans’ own version of the Buffett Rule, which allows wealthy Americans to voluntarily pony up to reduce the deficit.

YES, YES, YES,

Many months ago I recommended here that they do this, and it wasn't even my original idea.

I still remember Rush on his TV show 1993 or 1994 telling us that Gov Huckabee did this in AK.

I thought it was smart then and now. Watch and see how Dems in congress react,

I would have called it the "The Buffet rule contribution to reduce the Deficit" Act.

I would have called it the "The Buffet rule contribution to reduce the Deficit" Act.

Funny thing is, there are 403 Billionaires in the US, with a total worth of about $1.3 Trillion.

In other words, their entire WORTH, not income, wouldn't even match THIS YEARS deficit.

Like I said, we need a liberal tax. Put it on the tax form, "Are you in favor of higher taxes?" check here.

"Here" would charge you an extra $100. lol. //// No one would ever use it.

I'd love to see a report on how many of them actually contribute a dime... my guess? Not many..
