The rocket attack in Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador to that country and three staff members should be treated like an act of war, Sen. Chuck Grassley said Wednesday morning.
There ought to be serious implications, the Iowa Republican said on C-SPANs Washington Journal. Particularly when you get a rocket attack, its an act of war and ought to be treated like an act of war.
Grassley also expressed his regret to the families of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and other embassy staff who were killed in the assault on the American consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi.
Stevens and the others were fleeing the consulate when a rocket-propelled grenade struck their vehicle, according to news reports from Benghazi.
Grassley joined Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in condemning the attack on the consulate.
In a statement released by the State Department, she condemned the vicious and violent attack that took their lives, which they had committed to helping the Libyan people reach for a better future.
Although hes still waiting for details of the attack, Grassley said the U.S. must show the world we are a nation that lives by international law.
We expect other countries to live by international law, he said, and this is a violation and you have to take appropriate action.
He did not suggest what that might be. CNN reported that the Defense Department has dispatched two Marine anti-terrorism security teams to Benghazi to reinforce security there.
Grassley complimented President Obama for his effort early in his term to mend fences in the Middle East.
Four years ago the president made a very gracious effort going around that part of the world, giving speeches, showing that the expression of friendship of our people toward that part of the world, he said. However, Grassley added, I suppose now it looks like that was maybe a mistake because it shows some weakness on our part.
Unfortunately, Grassley said, it didnt do the good it was meant to do, but it was good-intentioned.
Oh no, it's just a simple misunderstanding that we need to apologize for as a nation ASAP!
Here is the 12-minute video trailer that is driving the muslim world and our own libtards (more) insane.
“We must try to understand why they hate us.”
Since Moammar Gadhafi’s downfall, the U.S. government has provided $170 million in transitional aid to Libya to help confront humanitarian and security challenges.
Exactly right. The world is watching.
If the US doesn't follow that law, other countries would then feel free to back down when there are acts of aggression, and all hell would break loose.
Because we aren't goats willing to prostrate ourselves to them on demand.
Where was he and all the other politicians during ‘Arab Spring’?
The rocket attack in Libya that killed the U.S. ambassador to that country and three staff members should be treated like an act of war, Sen. Chuck Grassley said Wednesday morning.
Well Senator, 30 years ago it would have been treated as such. Now we have a Government that is weak, broke and lacks any moral compass. In fact we have a very large segment of our at society that is weak and lacks any moral compass. So looks like we will do what America does now. Blame ourselves and beg the scumbags forgiveness.
This video was put on youtube on July 2 (as one person noted in comments). Strange it would now be blamed for the attack.
After initially apologizing for hurting the feelings of the perpetually offended nation of Islam, the administration sputtered outrage today at the killing of the US ambassador.
Now it appears they are trying to spin this travesty as the actions of conservative muslims angry at being “marginalized”.
So no big thing, let’s move along and let Obama finalize his gift to Egypt of one billion American tax dollars, nothing to see here. We’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope they don’t buy weapons as in Operation Fast and Furious.
Even though it appears the Libyans “guarding” the embassy guided their marginalized conservative—it’s important to repeat that word as often as possible—brothers in their attack, the administration is hoping we can all get over this as soon as possible and return to the serious business of campaigning and dirty politics.
It’s time for “O” to go!
According to a recent story, the Iraqi security forces who were “guarding” the compound told the attackers where the Ambassador and his staff had taken refuge.
Which makes this an act of war in which the Government of Libya—which Obama and Hillary helped install during an illegal war during which they never even bothered to consult with congress—was a participant?
“Miss me yet?” might not only be spoken by W, but even by Kaddafi, who was our ally at the time we started bombing Libya.
This was not some sort of idiot screwup. Obama knew exactly what he was doing, handing Egypt and Libya over to Muslim terrorists. And so did Hillary.
From CNN article:
But a London think tank with strong ties to Libya speculated Wednesday that Stevens was actually the victim of a targeted al Qaeda revenge attack.
The attack “came to avenge the death of Abu Yaya al-Libi, al Qaeda’s second in command killed a few months ago,” the think tank Quilliam said Wednesday.
It was “the work of roughly 20 militants, prepared for a military assault,” the think tank said, noting that rocket-propelled grenade launchers do not normally appear at peaceful protests, and that there were no other protests against the film elsewhere in Libya.

Sure, it was the “on the shelf” pretext the mob organizers had in their pockets to spring on 9-11.
And our media are gullible enough to buy it at face value. “Gee, Sally, they sure are upset about that movie...”
AMEN!!!
