Doug, old friend, we're all on the same team here. We just disagree over starting pitchers. Many here on FR are up in the bleachers screaming at the coach, but to no avail. Akin is the candidate. We can forever debate the merits of his decision to stay in. We can argue over what he said. What he meant to say. It little matters now.

Certification of the ballots will be no later than Sept. 17. The military overseas ballots begin going out Sept.22. The absentee ballots go out on the 25th of Sept. The cutoff date for Akin to petition the court to with draw his name is the 25th as well.

While it may be a slam dunk for the candidate to remove his name from the ballot, the SOS Robin Carnahan (a rabid Dem)can disagree with the court's decision. Furthermore, ANY election authority down to the county level can oppose the courts withdrawal order.

And Carnahan will not state whether or not she will fight this order. Food fight anyone?

Yes, a mess has been created. What if he is wrong and the money does not pour in after Sept 25? I don’t think it will. I guess it depends on the polls. No one wants to feel they are throwing away money, a finite resource.

Again comes the question - where are the people who vociferously defend him? Where is their money? If they believe in him, they would help get his ads out there.
