Ann Romney: 'This Man Will Lift Up America!' (Excerpts from Ann's convention speech)
Weekly Standard ^ | August 28, 2012

Posted on 08/28/2012 3:50:04 PM PDT by GOPinCa

The Romney campaign released these excerpts of Ann Romney's speech, which she'll deliver tonight at the Republican convention in Tampa: “Tonight I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts.

“I want to talk not about what divides us, but what holds us together as an American family. I want to talk to you tonight about that one great thing that unites us, that one thing that brings us our greatest joy when times are good, and the deepest solace in our dark hours.

“Tonight I want to talk to you about love. …

“Mitt's dad never graduated from college. Instead, he became a carpenter.

“He worked hard, and he became the head of a car company, and then the governor of Michigan.

“When Mitt and I met and fell in love, we were determined not to let anything stand in the way of our life together. …

“I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a ‘storybook marriage.’ Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or Breast Cancer.

YOU are such a liar. Your post above proves it is your hatred of Mormons that is leading your attack.

I was just stating that one person can’t lift this country up.It takes all of us.Romneys got our vote, but he does’nt own me or mine. And cancer is a serious illness. Both my parents passed on from it.It’s not something to joke about.Take care.

Ann Romney, in my opinion, gave an uplifting and heart-felt speech. I honestly believe her when she says that Mitt Romney can get the job done and turn this country around.

Since we only have two choices and Obama is the benefit of any 3rd party or non-vote, I can now support Romney/Ryan with more energy than I have in the past.

RE :”I thought about that today. We have only two choices. We cannot vote for someone we want, so we are left with voting for the best of two choices. This appears to be the reality of the situation. Before God this is a very hard election. I am praying that I make the right choice. Right now I am thinking that I will have to vote for Romney, but for my souls sake, I still am asking God if this is the right thing to do, or do I write in a candidate?

That is a very legitimate way of looking at it, as is for those who just cant pull the lever for Romney because he is a lib. In fact in many states it doesn't matter anyway, like my state Maryland.

Having been in the same position in 2008 I have given this some thought.
Here is the irony of the situation. If you actually vote (for MR) then your conscience might rest easier if he loses, alternatively if you don't vote out of principle (or you just don't like him) then it will be easier if he wins.

The reason why is belong the gloating stage which ends mid January (or could be sooner) when the real Romney takes office and everyday is a surprise. Alternatively if Obama is re-elected no good will come out of it.

Southpark did an episode on this situation years back where the Town people kicked Stan out of town because he refused to vote for either piece of crap in a school election.

So you want to only read ideas by those that agree with you, and everyone else disappears poof?

Well I like this place because we don't all have have to think exactly the same. Your idea sounds very sterile and cult-like.

If you are waiting for posters critical of Romney to be zotted then you are in for a long wait.

Figures, no I don't want posters critical of Romney to necessarily be zotted. What I would like from the anti Romney posts is some logic not just insults.

But it isn't going to happen here and you have it wrong as to what is cult like, it is the folks who rush here at every opportunity to bash Romney and who in the long run may help Obama get reelected.

I'm not sure if you fit that, but I suspect you do.

This place has turned into a cesspool because of the cult like actions of those you defend, and likely you also.

You are a smug, obstinately ignorant tool. You set up straw men as fast as you can because real facts are too intimidating to you. Look, you disgusting worm, there are two choices here, and your giant hard on for Mormons is blocking your vision, not that you care. If you can’t have the wisdom to get rid of Obama, at least have the decency to stand in the corner until after the election so the real men can get the job done.

Funny you should mention that because I posted a comment here about a small part of ARs speech half joking and I got a bunch of personal insults for it (by Romney bots obviously). I am used to this and it doesnt bother me in the least.

Yet the one poster who is driving most of you nuts on this thread does exactly the same thing to those who comment on his pet heroine, personal insults..
So Romney-bots are acting like all the other personality cult types. Bush, Palin, Perry, Paul ....-bots

Ironic justice. The finger points right back

I still am asking God if this is the right thing to do, or do I write in a candidate?”

mittens is anti-gun, pro-homos, and very likely still pro-death...

Ive come to the conclusion that I cannot vote *for* either of these politicians...and a third party vote at this point would be ineffective, simply because the majority of people are willing to sell their principles for the lesser of evil...

...Pilate saith unto them, 'Shall I crucify your King ?' The chief priests answered, 'We have no king but Caesar.'

John 19:15

I will write in the name of my King, Lord Jesus, and rest assured that His Will is always done, despite our human folly...

You don’t know all about the Romneys, nor Mormonism, there are things on this thread about Ann Romney that you did not know before you read them, if you read them.

You also are not the only person that reads these threads, good information creates knowledge, you don’t make serious posts, you post zingers, several word pleas, insults, attacks, almost all frivolous and meaningless.

Post after post, of nothing, over and over.

Three posts in a row, of nothing but personal attacks, and defending Mormonism ineffectively, by simply telling people to not say anything about it, although the nominee is a major religious figure in a cult.

staying home and not voting hurts real deal pro life conservatives on the local and national level.

You must be on a different freerepublic than the rest of us, I don't know anyone that isn't going to vote.

In fact even Romney's most devoted supporters usually point out that we are doomed by his liberalism, if we don't get in conservatives and take the Senate and Congress.

Talk about straw men. That's not exactly an argument about the facts. As the saying goes, if you can't dispute the facts, then resort to personal attacks. I notice you are a relative newbie, and that your tagline is Romney's ticket.

On another note, I'm a bit curious about one thing. Does anyone know how often a POTUS candidate's wife has given the keynote speech at a Republican Convention? Democrats, sure. Out of curiosity, I googled "First Lady keynote speech," and these two entries at the top are typical. Virtually all are Democrat, although of course you'd expect the finds to be overloaded with Michelle:

You need to educate yourself before displaying your ignorance online.

How ignorant can you be? Read post 224 about their college years, Ann attending University in France, living on George Romney's stocks and loans, being celebrities.

Romney's dad died when Romney was 49 years old, Mitt's mom, died years later, and you don't know how the estate was divided among Mitt and his siblings, nor what Mitt did with his share, other than the portion that went right back into Mormonism.

Don't pretend to know the amount of or dispersal of Mitt's inheritance.

The last half of her speech was very good....I felt bad that she had to read off the prompter...she came off fake in my opinion during the first half of her speech and you could tell they added things that just didn’t fit her. Too bad that some of you are just robots and ‘love’ every word she said just because she is Republican. Moderate...but nontheless a Republican. And then you resort to bashing me, name calling...like a pre-programmed attacking robot. Fortunately, I have my own mind and can disagree with things.

She was tying to say that Mitt would make Everyone in the United States again proud to be American. Like Reagan did in 1981!!!

The last thing I am is a freakin robot.

Regarding the prompter, she said she had to practice because she is NOT used to reading from one.

She did one hell of a job. She crushed the demons “war against women”. She showed nothing but class and honesty in her speech.

Again, I ask, are you posting in your code pinko “woman’s private part” costume?

You claim to “Fortunately, I have my own mind and can disagree with things.”

I highly disagree. Her entire speech stuck a knife in the commie “war against women”.

You hate their Mormon religion? Fine, then just say it. If not, you are a coward who will be left behind.
