The court rejected the family's request for a symbolic $1 in damages and legal expenses.
"She did not move away as any reasonable person would have done," Gershon ruled. "But she chose to endanger herself ... and thus found her death."

The parents never stood a chance against the government’s full court press.

She was attractive when she was not angry, and she did her hair right.

Sorry, no pun or joke here.
At the time of her death, I recall reading reports that she was taken alive to a hospital where it was implied that she was permitted to die (or perhaps ‘euthanized’) to be turned into a martyr for the cause.
Whatever the cause of her unhappy end, it’s always the same when one enters a pact with the Devil.

I once read how British sailors on a South Pacific island were rather shocked because the islanders would carve a very large and very heavy canoe out of a tree, inland, then use “excess” girls to “grease the skids” to help launch the boat.
One at a time, the girls would run out and lay down, legs spread, in the path of the canoe, which as it was moved a few inches at a time, would crush them and cut them in half.
The British would have interfered except that the crafty islanders had given them drinks beforehand which contained potent muscle relaxants. So all they could do was just sit there and watch.

what had been declared a closed military zone.Interesting connection for anyone who doubts the bulldozer as a weapon of war: After WWII General Eisenhower asserted that of the five most valuable machines of war in Eastern Europe, one was the bulldozer. (Two others were the Jeep and the deuce-and-a-half truck. One was the Duck, and I forget the fifth.)

Rachel Corrie’s nickname should be “sensible shoes.”

The Corries, who filed suit in 2005, argued in court that the military should have suspended the bulldozing operations until the civilian protesters had been removed from the area. Well they removed one at least.
