Akin Says He Has No Plans to Quit Missouri Senate Race

Akin said he has no plans to withdraw.

“I don’t know that I’m the only person in public office who’s suffered from foot-in-mouth disease here, and this was a very, very serious error. On the other hand, there are so many good people in Missouri who nominated me, and they understood my heart,” Akin said.

Akin said no Republicans have called him and asked him to withdraw from the race.

“No one has called me and said, ‘Todd, I think you should drop out,’” Akin said. “No one has said that. But I gather people are saying that in the media, but they didn’t specifically call me and tell me that.”

Blast it I expect better of Freepers. There is a great deal of information showing that far fewer pregnancies result from forced or violent rape than from consensual coitus. Now go and look it up!

Perhaps even more importantly, I saw Akin's original comment and his clarification later, and he never said a woman couldn't get pregnant from rape; he said doctors have claimed it was less likely. The left wingers immediately went through their standard playbook and replaced Akin's statement with an exaggerated version: that Akin thinks that some rape is ok and that women can't EVER get pregnant from rape. That is a deliberate misrepresentation, but it is meant to get all of the dumbed-down American voters to pull their hair out. Well, it's working, as usual. I just didn't think it would work on Freepers so easily.

Do you seriously think in a Federation where half the population supports abortions for any reason, there will be tolerance of the idea of forbidding abortion to rape victims?

We try to fight this battle and we play right into the democrats hands and marginalize ourselfs. Like it or not a lot of women would rather kill their own babies than deal with a pregnancy.

Until we bring that reality to them to face and reject even suggesting that if they are raped that they might be forced to carry their rapers baby is suicide. Yes I understand the moral case, but a majority of the population is NOT even close to there yet!

Akin’s screwed himself and us on this issue, it must be ended and no other republican must ever mention or answer any question to the contrary. If your a Federal republican say abortion is a state issue period.

No you and those like you including the RNSC screwed this nation by rolling over and crying/pleading for mercy when we should have been right up in their faces denying them control of the debate.

And yes no abortion if a pregnancy resulted from rape, the baby could not be more innocent. The baby does have to be put up for adoption how ever.

That has been part of the parties platform for two plus decades so you are the one who played into the Alinsky cadres hands. Very typical of the rino controlled Republicans, working hard to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.

I’m sorry but most critical parts of the Federation cannot be sold on that policy. It is sad but true that the media will treat us as a homogeneous unit.

If we supported Akin’s in his bad science we would be even more screwed than he is. That simply wont fly outside of the south.
