Breaking- If Akin Remains In, NRSC Will Spend Nothing on MO Senate Race
The Corner at NRO ^ | August 20, 2012 | Katrina Trinko

Posted on 08/20/2012 11:37:35 AM PDT by SE Mom

An NRSC source just confirmed to me what various outlets have been reporting: if Todd Akin remains the senate candidate, NRSC will invest no financial resources into the Missouri senate race. Previously, NRSC had planned to spend $5 million.

And Crossroads has already taken some TV ads off the air, reports Politico.

If Akin does remain in the race, he’s going to be relying, it appears, virtually exclusively on whatever his campaign raises, without any financial help from outside groups.

Yup.

“Legitimate rape” could be a gaffe. Saying that women’s bodies are able to distinguish between voluntary and forced insemination shows he’s out to lunch and needs to go.

The dude sounds like a moron if he thinks a woman’s body can prevent pregnancy during a rape. The dems are loving this and they also look ridiculous trying to tie the comments to all republicans and Ryan. Best to cut this guy out of the race and move on. What a mess indeed.

Well said. My own daughter (who is only 16) asked me today of I believe that woman don't get pregnant if raped. This moron is hurting not only Repubs but those of us who are pro life. He's a weirdo.

I agree. But my point is valid. The NRSC would support a backstabbing Specter year upon year but they’d have to be dragged kicking and screaming to support a conservative.

Erick Erickson tweeted that he heard he was dropping out, now he’s saying that he might not be. That’s the last time I rely on twitter for info :( this guy needs to drop out now..he is toxic, now every single Republican running will be asked by the media “Do you agree with what Akin said?” The sooner he does drop out the better thank the Dems cant use him anymore

Where did you hear this? Akin just appeared on Huckabee and defiantly vowed to remain in til the bitter end.

And apparently the bitter end is now.

Thanks. Somehow, he doesn’t strike me as conservative.

Well, duh. Republicans have enough sense not to flush money down the toilet when the could spend it somewhere that produces actual results.

It is indeed. If Akin withdraws then who do the Republicans install in his place? Steelman’s supporters will think she should get it, Brunner’s supporters will think he should get it, whichever one is chosen will face the fact that over 2/3rds of the voters think their candidate got shafted.

Steelman came in 3rd. John Brunner would pick up the nomination if Akin withdraws.

This is the same NRSC that endorsed Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio.

In other words, they're the reason I quit giving to the Republican party and now only give to individual candidates.

Erick Erickson tweeted that he heard he was dropping out, now he’s saying that he might not be.

Akin already said he was remaining in the race. He apparently thinks he can ride this out... which he won't.

McCaskill can cancel her retirement plans now, and Harry Reid doesn't need to order up the movers.

Thanks, Akin for nothing, you POS.

Call the NRSC and let them know I died in 1994.

Biden says things equally dumb twice daily.

But he gets a pass because he’s a tard.

Akin just appeared on Huckabee and defiantly vowed to remain in til the bitter end.

Sounds like Akin just had a meeting with Luca Brasi.

Yes, Republicans are wussies. From reading this thread, so are many FREEPERS.

What Akin said is true. If a woman is actually raped, the female body is less likely to conceive.

Ignorance, cowardice...what a bunch of heros we have here.

He wont be able to ride it out. People make gaffes, make misstatements all the time, the difference here is what he said was sheer stupidity, and we had the damn election won. McCaskill was down 11 points, now she has a 65 percent chance of retaining her seat. No wonder she was pulling for Akin so badly, no wonder Dems switched over to vote for him. We NEED this seat in order to defeat Obamacare, if McCaskill wins say goodbye to defeating Obamacare, it will be the law of the land. Im beginning to think that Akin is a mole for the Dems, no way could someone say something THIS stupid unless he’s a Dem in disguise

From what Im hearing Akin will be dropping out of the race

My guess is he will be raked over the coals tonight, even on FOX.
This ain't going to blow over and I hate the double standard.
Way too much at stake and he should probably drop out.
It's just the reality of things as they are, never give the Rats and MSM ammunition by saying dumb things.
