Permanent Rules for Concealed Carry Law(WI)

MADISON, Wisconsin (WXOW) - After almost a year without permanent rules, Wisconsin's Concealed Carry Law is about to get some. Officials say most of them are basic things taught in most gun safety classes. While law enforcement is generally in favor, many gun trainers say there's no need for new rules.

Mike Shea, Gun Training Instructor says, "I would like the new proposed rules thrown out. We have rules that are in place now that are working so to go through and change things mid-stream like this doesn't make any sense."

While Chief Tom Molitor of Green Bay Police says, "What the Attorney General is proposing is a good idea -- there should be some restrictions on the training, certain levels of competency."

The proposed, permanent rules will be submitted to the Governor's office Tuesday. The legislature will then decide whether to approve them.

The Rinos are trying to make it harder to get a CCW in Wisconsin with administrative rules that they could not get passed in the legislature.

Wisconsin worked hard to pass one of the best shall issue laws in the country. I expect that they will move toward constitutional carry rather than let administrators in the DOJ make CCW more restrictive than it is now.

I certainly hope so...but am not overly optimistic. We humans seem to gravitate away from freedom and toward tyranny, given the opportunity.

I share your pessimism. One of the most profound expressions of freedom is the unrestricted right to protect your life and property. Most people can't handle that kind of responsibility, so they they let the State make the decision for them.

When did we become such pu$$ie$?

They don’t specify in the video clip, but you can bet the enactment thereof will simply make it easier for the State to deny applications.

Rules to make the requirements for training to obtain the CCW permit considerably more restrictive than they are now. The current rules are based on the passed legislation, which allows nearly any training to qualify for the CCW permit. It is pretty close to what is required for the Florida permit. Almost any type of formal training, including hunter safety training is sufficient at present.

The statists/rinos are upset that an organization like Wisconsin Carry can train several hundred people at once on the legal requirements and basic safety rules. There are also a number of trainers who charge considerable fees that are unhappy with Wisconsin Carry doing it for free. I understand that one of the restrictions is on the number of people in the classroom.

This is why we needed to get constitutional carry passed the first time around.

It would have been nice, and it came close. Still, it is better to get half a pie than none at all.

Of the states that have passed shall issue, I am not aware of any that have made it more restrictive. I have seen numerous states make their shall issue laws less restrictive, and three (Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming) move to constitutional carry.

We got half a pie, and nowthey are trying to take half of that half, back. And no offense but I see no fight for anything left in Walker and the Repubs. I know they’re on break but they better be ready to go farther than they ever thought possible when they get the Senate back in November. And right now I don’t see them having the will to fight for harder things to get through. Like constitutional carry. Like actually starting to curb back the entitlements. Like getting 10th Amendment bills going like Texas is doing. Like fighting the concept of regional taxation (ie major cities screwing suburbs and exurbs for money for their problems). Don’t see any of this on the radar. Like eliminating the Govt Accountability Board which is totally partisan and going back to an Elections Board that is more accountable, less partisan and more removeable if they don’t do their jobs. Like perhaps reforming the state welfare food system so that the debit cards can only be used for certain staples rather than lotto cards, alcohol, and lobsters. And perhaps raising the income level that qualifies for this help as there are a lot of well-to-do poor folks buying a lot better groceries than I am with these taxpayer-funded cards.
