I don’t agree, a majority of seniors have proven to be some of the greediest citizens. From the Greatest Generation on down - people have been feed and bred on government entitlements and they love them. They love them so much that they are willing to sell out their kids and their grandkids so that they can maintain the status quo.

Don't say that here. Even on "arch conservative" FR, you will get a ton of responses that seniors paid all their lives for their benefits and that no one should touch them. Its evidence of how screwed we are that even conservatives don't want anyone touching their Social Security and Medicare.

I hate to agree with you, but having lived many years in Pennsylvania I see it all to clearly. In just about any election around here one of the front and center issues is invariably "Free Stuff for Senior Citizens".

Back when Pennsylvania was trying to become one of the first states with a lottery in order to get the votes they agreed to dedicate all proceeds to Free Stuff for Senior Citizens. In the intervening years we have had many budget crises, and higher priority needs. But if you proposed taking any money out of the lottery they reacted as if you were standing on their air hose. We actually have to come up with MORE free stuff to give them in years when the Lottery runs a surplus!
