So he killed his own wife. Romney had nothing to do with it.

I’ve been laid off three times. You readjust priorities and budgets to get through. For a responsible person (obviously not a Democrat), you purchase COBRA insurance to tide you over and make sure you and your family are protected against catastrophe.

He’s a moron who gambled with the lives of his wife and family. I’m very sorry he lost his wife to cancer, but foregoing catastrophic health coverage is not a wise life decision.

“I’m very sorry he lost his wife to cancer”

But we don’t even know if she had been insured it would have prevented the cancer.

In the ad he says that she “probably” didn’t tell him that she was sick because she didn’t have insurance. But, we don’t know that. Cancer can come with no warning.

This is just trumped up lying.

Even beyond that...by the time she had symptoms and was taken to the hospital and it was discovered what it was, no amount of insurance would have made a difference.

It was a factually false ad in many ways - he said she got sick “a short time later” but didn’t want to go to the doctor because they knew they didn’t have insurance...now we know she had insurance for some time afterward so a “short time” could not have been correct, yet that’s what he said. It was discovered 7 years after Romney left Bain - there is no way he had any responsibility. The plant also would have shut down sooner but for Bain - years sooner. So he would have been better off if Bain had not bought the plant and it shut down years before and he still lost the insurance? Any way you slice it - there is nothing true about the ad, other than he tragically lost his wife. I really can’t understand why someone would use this for a partisian political attack like this.

Everyone get hyper the minute you mention COBRA, but it’s the real cost of health care if your employer is left out of the scheme. For the most part, it’s a decent plan....just pricey. For anyone who is about to be laid off...I would strongly advise you to sign up for COBRA, and use it if necessary.
