Obama to land at threatened base

When President Barack Obama flies Air Force One to Mansfield, Ohio, for a campaign stop on Wednesday, he’ll be landing at a military base that could close under his proposed Pentagon spending cuts.
That was news to his press secretary, Jay Carney, who said he’s “not aware of that particular issue.”
Mansfield Air National Guard Base is home to the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard and the C-27J, a mid-size cargo transport plane. Obama’s budget request for the new fiscal year would cut those planes in favor of the bulkier, more expensive C-130 aircraft. And with no use for the C27-J, the base would become obsolete.

When asked by ABC News why the president was visiting a U.S. military base that would likely shut down under his budget proposal, Carney said he’d have to look into it.

It will be tough for those Guardsmen and women — showing respect for the guy who may cost them their jobs. If it were me, his presence would make me physically ill.
Heck, I’d feign illness just to avoid having to stand at attention when he visited.
