I don’t care what you personally care about. I do care where people spend eternity.

And, no, I’m not a Mormon or Mitt-bott.

With a name like AlmaKing? Really?

Another similarity is that both have a salvation by works mentality.

In Mormonism, salvation (eternal life) is given to almost everyone except the truly bad, but no one seems to know who the truly bad are. But eternal life simply guarantees you servitude on earth for enternity. To reach Godhood, you must earn it and accept their prophet.

In Islam, they have the "Scales" where if your deeds are 51% good and 49% bad, you pass.

In Christianity, there is nothing you can do to make up for the evil you have done. For if you knew it was good, then it is only what you should have done anyway. In Christianity the goal is perfection. "Be perfect, for I am perfect." "Be Holy for I am Holy." And the only way two ways to get there is to never sin or to be forgiven.

There is no thinly veiled attack. It is called exposure of mormonism. I say the more exposure the better. The issue here is eternal.

And works includes “baptizing the dead”.

Which is probably the first question that will be put to Mitt after the Republican National Convention . . . “have you ever baptized the dead...”

That’ll get votes, LOL.

I am really sorry you worship a god, I however worship God and desire that everyone know Him.
It is an eternal issue.
God is Gracious to give us free will and you are free to worship a god if you chose.

But, it’s OK that Catholics and many of the rest of us remember to pray for all the living and the dead. Perhaps Romney should do like Obama and register them to vote instead.

Wait a minute... I have a couple more questions.

If I find myself in heaven and I call out the secret names of my girlfriends, will they show up too?? Oh, if I don’t remember their names (I was never any good at that), but if I still have my old worn-out ‘black book’, is calling out their phone numbers close enough?

Every religion has lots of skeletons in the closet. Even yours if it’s old enough to be a religion. This kind of attack is despicable and without merit.

As for the issue here being eternal, I don’t see how that is justification for a mean spirited attack on a religion that has become more mainstream than many of the left leaning “Christian” churches.

I used the words veiled attack in deference to the author. Many of the comments that followed appear to be a blatant smear attack on behalf of some narrow minded hope for Ron Paul or Barack Obama.

Well you’d have to be married to them in the super secret ceremony (dead or alive), and they are assigned a name for you to call, most likely so it’s easy for you to remember they’d all have the same assigned name.

Islam simply became an excuse for Arabs to wage war on non-Arabs

Everybody, including their own family.

This is exposure of mormonism pure and simple.
Exposure is not mean it is just exposure.
These exposures are not skeletons they are foundational to mormonism.

“And works includes “baptizing the dead”.”

You might find it strange, but I have never had a problem with the practice of “baptizing the dead”. If it doesn’t work, the dead sure aren’t going to care about it.

I have been thinking about earning a reverend certificate off the net and starting my very own church. At first I wanted to become a wealthy Black preacher... heck, I could get the tax advantages, yet I wouldn’t even need a building and overhead. After giving this idea thoughtful consideration, it occurred to me that I just couldn’t make it work... I am White.

Anyway, if I do get my reverend credentials, my church is going to baptize live people... they won’t need to be present either. I am just going to get the democrat voter lists and baptize every single one of them. Just imagine how happy they’ll be when they “hear the good news.”

Then, for only a single $50 cash donation (PayPal accepted) to my church, they can be unbaptized. Can you just imagine how many folks will be willing to pay $50, just so they can go back to living their life without the threat of being called a Christian... I’ll make millions.

There is much more money in democrats than dead people, it’s just tough to tell them apart.

I don’t see how that is justification for a mean spirited attack on a religion that has become more mainstream than many of the left leaning “Christian” churches.

What exactly qualifies Mormonism as "mainstream?"

* It's practically non-existent in Asia.
* It's not there in most of Africa -- and barely discernible in other parts of Africa.
* In Brazil, the Mormons are literally asking the question of where are the almost 1 million missing members?
* In Sweden, the Mormon hierarchy has come up with a "Rescue Sweden" plan because many there -- including leaders -- are in apostasy.
* In America, Mormonism's "home-grown 'hot spot'" -- is still @ only 1.7% -- and only about 0.3% of Americans are temple Mormons. Many, many ex-Mormons and more on their way out...many others are "jack" (inactive) Lds. [See below asterisk line for links proving this]

So you're defending becoming a god--which is what Mormonism purports-- as "mainstream" "religion?" The New Age movement, which has been embraced by one of the Dem 2008 POTUS candidates Kucinich is much more "mainstream" than Mormonism...why don't you go to bat for the New Age cultists as well?

Wow! Just wow!

********************

Documentation of American Mormon exodus in process:
*Notes: Mormonism and the Internet [Duplicity/mixed messages cited; baptism-of-dead issue lingers]
* Survey on Mormon Disbelievers to be Released at UVU Forum [74% point to theological concerns]
* Why Mormons flee their church
* Number of faithful Mormons rapidly declining
* Mormons opening up in an Internet world [& Losing members accordingly]
* Special report -Mormonism besieged by the modern age [Lds church is hemorrhaging in member losses]
* See also 2010 posting: Why Mormons Leave Per study linked below -- a survey of over 3,000 Mormons -- the greatest reason Lds say they question their faith is theology (a full 74%).

(So much for those who portend that "theology" doesn't matter)

Per the survey results from over 3,000 Mormons seriously reviewing their faith --
--see released a survey for 26-page results!
-- Here are the top five "General Factors Contributing to Disbelief"...[this is found on page 8 chart of results]:

1. I ceased to believe in the church's doctrine/theology (74%)
2. I studied church history and lost my belief (70%)
3. I lost faith in Joseph Smith (70%) [my note: A very bad place to place & transfer faith toward to begin with!]
4. I lost faith in the Book of Mormon (65%)
5. I lost confidence in the general authorities (50%)

Two other factors within the Top 10 included:
* "I did not feel spiritually edified at church" (47%)
* and "Church's stance on race issues (blacks, native Americans, etc.)" (43%).

In contrast to the reasons Mormons & Mormon leaders often pin upon such disbelievers, only 4% said it was because they were offended by someone in the church and 4% also pinpointed "I wanted to engage in behaviors viewed as sinful by the church" [the very bottom reasons listed on the chart].

12% said they "received a spiritual witness to leave the church and go elsewhere"...Over 1/4 said they lost their faith in God/Jesus.

Every point you make is exactly why LDS is as mainstream as any other part of the fractured Christian Religion. All one has to do is look at the number of strip mall churches that have splintered off on a preacher’s power trip. Look at the size of the “non-denominational” empires shouting that they are the true salvation. Yep, all those warts and the fact that the church is still there after over a hundred years make it mainstream. Not my personal choice, but mainstream none the less.

Before you start, I said Religion, not Faith. There is a marked difference.
