Ron Paul supporters arrested as La GOP Shreveport convention splits in two
examiner.com ^ | June 2, 2012 | James Plummer

Chaos erupted in Shreveport today as police officers arrested state GOP delegates who support Ron Paul for the party's 2012 presidential nomination.

The dispute arose after the state party's central committee issued "supplemental rules" earlier this week concerning the delegate selection process. A press release from the Ron Paul campaign this afternoon referred to the 11th hour changes as "illegal rules."

After fights in the Rules Committee Friday, state party chairman opened the convention moving to pass the new rules, when the majority of delegates moved to elect a new convention chair. When Villere refused to yield the dais, the majority elected a new chair and turned their chairs. As this was happening, the Villere faction convinced the Shreveport Police Department to arrest some of the Paul delegates holding microphones for "trespassing."

During the forcible arrests, Shreveport police dislocated the hip of the gentlemen in the video here, identified by the Paul campaign as State Central Commiteeman Henry Herford Jr. of Franklin Parish.

Now that the State Primaries are almost completed, it is important to ask if Moderate Mitt from Mass. has proven himself to be able to beat unqualified, incompetent, arrogant, Marxist Obama?

The RNC made the Primary Campaign rules, and so the RNC can change those same rules. No Federal Regulator will be involved, ‘I guarantee it.’

Currently Romney is just a coin-flip away from losing to Obama in November.

IF Romney has only a slight chance to win in November, THEN it is incumbent upon the RNC to improve the odds by choosing to DUMP Romney and endorse a stellar Dark Horse.

Romney would have to really struggle to beat a stellar Dark Horse for the Nominee position in an OPEN Convention in Tampa.

The State Primaries were a test run, and Romney showed us that he is a weak Candidate to beat Obama, the most flawed Democrat ever to run for re-election to the most powerful job in the World.

Agreed, it is a daunting task for an etch-a-sketch, mealy-mouthed, Moderate to confront the REALITY of actually losing to Obama, but if Romney can’t change between now and August then he doesn’t deserve the RNC Nomination.

BTW, The GOP-Elite are part of the problem, NOT part of the solution.

The Louisiana RINOs have proven how difficult it will be to take back the Republican Party, even with a well-organized, and legal plan.

However, it will be well worth the effort to have someone other than Socialist Romney”care Obamalite to run against Communist Obama”care” Obama.

And so the 2012 battle against the RINO Wing of the Republican Party begins in Shreveport - - - - .

Obama or Obamalite?
That choice is just not RIGHT!
Should we cowardly bow
And hold our Noses?

The time has come
To make our choices!

DUMP “The Romney”
While we can,
For after Tampa
- - - - - - - - - - -

Ron Paul began the Second Tea Party in Boston in 2007.

It has taken 5 years to build up enough strength to try to wrest control of the Republican Party away from the RINO Wing that gave us McCain and now Romney.

A Brokered or OPEN Convention in Tampa is our ONLY hope of DUMPING Romney before he loses to Obama in November, by 10 %.

BTW, are YOU Taxed Enough Already?

He was also crushed in AZ, but no matter; the Paulistas tried to take over our convention, believing they could ignore the RNC rules and vote for Paul in Tampa.

Anyhow they failed and are crying “Foul”.... Romney was not my choice, but I was elected to go to Tampa and I will vote for the person who won the AZ Presidential Primary, and that would be Romney.

The Paulistinians have shown up at opposing campaign rallies time after time to shout down their opposition. If that isn't acting like thugs or brown shirts, then tell me what it is.

People showed up on election day to defeat Ron Paul and hand him a 4th place 6% finish. His people ran committed Paulistinians as uncommitted delegates to deceive and try to seize control of the Louisiana delegation as they did in Minnesota and Maine.

You may call it playing by the rules. Obama used the same excuse when he disqualified his only opponent from the primary ballot to win his state senate seat by default. Then used the same excuse when he forced out his serious GOP opponent to win his Illinois U.S. Senate seat by default.

But the GOP in Louisana didn't buy it. Neither will the saner elements of GOP voters.

And, yes, it is like the Gore 2000 argument. Only the Paulistinians are worse than Gore. They want to cherry pick which rules get followed and which rules get ignored. And Ron Paul didn't even come close to winning.

Unfortunately, the tactics of Paulistinians are going to p*ss off the GOP rank and file so bad that even his sane views are going to get short shift now. And that's the main tragedy.

I have no love for Ron Paul, and know all about his supporters.

But this thuggery in Louisiana is un-American.

The GOP presidential nominating process is a joke. It’s a rigged game from start to finish, and any conservative who can’t see that at this point is being willfully blind.

Oh... So your going to vote for that POS socialist romney huh.... (if your actually even a delegate)

How about abstaining from the first vote. Dont vote for anyone in the first round. Lets get a brokered convention so we can get a candidate ALL of us can get behind.

iM telling you right now, no bull sh-t, no lie, If that POS socialist makes it out of the convention as the GOP candidate I WILL work AGAINST his candidacy. I will do EVERYTHING I can to make sure he NEVER sees the inside of the WH as president. Now, multiply that by the MANY MANY MANY others in what used to be the GOP base that will do the same as me.

The GOP wont be losing just voters, they will be losing voters and the most enthusiastic members of the ground game. Heh, not just losing them, the GOP will turn those folks AGAINST their candidate. Great strategery there GOP.

Best case scenario here... Romney gets dumped at the convention and ANYONE ELSE (non-socialist anyone else) gets the nomination.

As a delegate from AZ I am committed to vote for the person who won the primary in AZ...it wasn’t Cain or Gingrich or Santorum or Paul; so you can work to keep Obama in the White House and watch the demise of our country. Whatever.

But... delegates CAN abstain from voting...

Unfortunately, in this case, the unobstructed path to hell is Romney.

Im just sorry that your too F’ing dense to understand that.

F’ing Romneybots piss me off. You cant even just come out and call em a socialist because they are probably just too damn stupid to even realize they are supporting a socialist.

As in Mn, the primary is a straw poll. The election of delegates is what counts.

I don’t make the rules, but this is how the GOP set up things to play out.

Assuiming the straw poll held true, your butt-buddy Willard only got 26%. You falsely assume those votes would all fall to Willard in a two way race.

You really aren’t very bright are you...

They didn’t cherry pick rules. They did what every American should do. They rallied together to support specific folks who shared their belief. On delegate election day, they called me to solicit my support and reminded me to vote. That’s how it’s done.

There was no deception. It was all done in the open.

As far as Paulistinians behavior, you’re saying it’s okay to be treat one group bad because another group, which supports the same thing, may have acted poorly. What’s to stop Dems in a statehouse from kicking out legitimately elected Republicans and saying “have you seen how awful Republicans act? It’s only fair they get treated this way!”

The Paulistinians did what needs to be done per the rules.

If you oppose it, organize and be get the votes.

From the LA GOP web site.

Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere Congratulates Rick Santorum on Finishing First in the Louisiana Republican Primary

Rick Santorum had a strong first place finish with 49.07 percent of the vote in the Louisiana Republican Primary according to the unofficial election results released by the Louisiana Secretary of State. Mitt Romney followed in 2nd place with 26.62 percent. Newt Gingrich came in third with 15.92 percent of the vote. Ron Paul finished in fourth place with 6.15 percent.

“Congratulations to Rick Santorum on his victory,” said Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere Jr. “The results show Rick Santorum’s conservative message strongly resonated with Louisiana Republican voters. Louisiana Republicans clearly want a conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”

Louisiana was thrust into the national spotlight this week as the Louisiana Republican Primary became a key contest in the hotly contested Republican Presidential race. Over the past two weeks, all four presidential candidates made multiple campaign stops throughout the state of Louisiana.

“The eyes of Republicans all over America are on Louisiana tonight,” Villere said. “Thank you to all the Republican candidates for personally reaching out to Louisiana voters and doing the hard work to make Barack Obama a one-term president.”

In accordance with the rules of the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Louisiana, tonight’s primary winners competed for 20 of Louisiana’s at-large delegates proportionally based on the outcome. Candidates must have received a minimum of 25 percent of the primary vote in order to be allocated delegates.

Based upon the unofficial election results from the Secretary of State, Rick Santorum has won 10 delegates with 49.07% of the vote. Mitt Romney came in second with 5 delegates with 26.62% of the vote. Both Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul did not meet the threshold of 25% of voters required in order to garner delegates. As a result, neither Gingrich or Paul will be allocated delegates and five of the twenty delegates will go uncommitted to the National Convention.

Louisiana will send a total of 46 delegates and 43 alternates to the Republican National Convention. Delegates will be elected at the 2012 Louisiana Republican Convention in Shreveport in June. State convention delegates will be elected at district caucuses which will be held on April 28 in 30 locations across Louisiana.

In today’s Republican Primary, 186,377 Louisiana Republicans cast their vote. In the 2008 Preference Primary, 161,169 Republicans participated.

Where do you get that it is a straw poll.
