No bases of any significance but Egypt does operate the Suez canal which we use a lot. Interestingly our military gets priority passage thru it-—no waiting in line for our guys. There are several opinions. My belief is it’s “Dar al Islam”, which is defined as either “The house of Islam” meaning the caliphate, or “The Peace of Islam”. I’ve seen it refereed both ways. Seems to fit his narrative.
If you do a search, this story made a hell of an impact on a lot of people. Bad and good. I think it’s one of the best short stories I have ever read. It’s all too possible thanks to the cowardice of people today. They will keep making excuses for and catering to the whims of Muslims until this work of fiction becomes a work of history.
