Eternal Flame doused in bizarre act at Shrine of Remembrance (attack on war memorial)

A HEARTLESS vandal used a fire extinguisher to put out the Eternal Flame at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne today.
Police have released CCTV footage of the man and want the public to help track him down.

The Shrine of Remembrance is the main war memorial in Victoria, Australia, and is by far my favourite of all these memorials. The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is the only memorial to exceed it in size and majesty, and Sydney's at least comes close, but I have had far more to do with the Shrine.
As such I am angered and horrified by this act. The Eternal Flame, being a creation of man, does occasionally go out, and sometimes even needs to be turned off for maintenance, but deliberately extinguishing it like this disgusts me.
On the walls of the Shrine are carved the words:
LET ALL MEN KNOW THAT THIS IS HOLY GROUND. THIS SHRINE, ESTABLISHED IN THE HEARTS OF MEN AS ON THE SOLID EARTH, COMMEMORATES A PEOPLE'S FORTITUDE AND SACRIFICE. YE THEREFORE THAT COME AFTER, GIVE REMEMBRANCE.
It is Holy Ground, and this piece of scum - I hope he learns that.
