We need to be at the table to discuss which country, other than the US, should have complete right to drill off our shores. Then, let's take that one step farther. Maybe we can even have those other countries drill right here in the US. After all isn't that what all good Socialists crave for.... total equality (control). Why should we Americans continue to determine our own destiny. It has worked for 230+ years.... But, it may fail any day now.

This is a total BS in support of the Soros One World Order! This seems like High Seas Piracy. I trust Jim DeMint! NO TREATY!

Here's what the traitorous Bill Nelson (D) FL says to his constituents:

Dear Mr.XXXXXX:

Thank you for contacting me regarding the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. I appreciate your concerns about this treaty's impact on the sovereignty of the United States.

I believe our membership in the United Nations serves an important strategic purpose in advancing U.S. policies and interests. The Convention on the Law of the Sea has received broad support and has been endorsed by the oil, gas, and shipping industries, as well as environmental groups.

The treaty is critical to supporting the national security of the United States and ensuring our access to waterways around the world. The treaty also supports our work in preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction through the Proliferation Security Initiative. Thus far, over 150 countries have ratified this treaty; if the U.S. is not party to this agreement our country will not have a seat at the table during future negotiations.

If this treaty is considered by the full Senate, I will make sure to keep your views in mind. If you have any additional concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

Sincerely,

Bill Nelson

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and military leaders implored conservative Republicans on Wednesday to approve a long-spurned high seas treaty, saying it would create jobs, open a new path to oil, gas and other resources and bolster national security.

Code for expensive, intrusive, progressive, freedom taking, and government promoting.

But the committee chairman announced at the start of the hearing that he would not push for a Senate vote before the November elections.

Another Lame Duck vote to pass the treaty. Guaranteed lock lame duck Lugar, and KBH will vote yes. There is no reason in this modern age of transportation to have lame duck sessions.

"Failing to approve the sea treaty, Panetta said, undermines U.S. authority."

The only thing that undermines US authority is having spineless usurpers and pretenders in office without the will to use our power to enforce it.

Senators Lee and DeMint did a great job with questioning. Lee knew more than Hillary or Panetta.

"One hundred and sixty nations have acceded to it, and we say, 'To hell with them, we're not going to participate in that,'" Panetta said.

Hey Leon, I'm A-OK with it!

"Then 160 nations are going to determine what happens" and the U.S. is on the sidelines.

If we don't sign, we don't have to abide. Who will enforce it? FU 160 nations!

the U.S. has abided by the rules of the treaty

We may live by them but we are not bound by them. That's the difference.

The Clintons are uber globalists. Bill implemented Agenda 21 administratively under his reign and now Obama tightens the noose.

UN General Assembly
September 17, 1997
RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Oceans and seas (Excerpted)

36. “...There is a need to continue to improve decision-making at the national, regional and global levels. To address the need for improving global decision-making on the marine environment, there is an urgent need for Governments to implement decision 4/15 of the Commission on Sustainable Development, 23/ in which the Commission, inter alia, called for a periodic intergovernmental review by the Commission of all aspects of the marine environment and its related issues, as described in chapter 17 of Agenda 21, and for which the overall legal framework was provided by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. There is a need for concerted action by all countries and for improved cooperation to assist developing countries in implementing the relevant agreements and instruments in order that they may participate effectively in the sustainable use, conservation and management of their fishery resources, as provided for in the Convention and other international legal instruments, and achieve integrated coastal zone management. In that context, there is an urgent need for:

(a) All Governments to ratify or to accede to the relevant agreements as soon as possible and to implement effectively such agreements as well as relevant voluntary instruments;

(b) All Governments to implement General Assembly resolution 51/189 of 16 December 1996, including the strengthening of institutional links to be established between the relevant intergovernmental mechanisms involved in the development and implementation of integrated coastal zone management. Following progress on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and bearing in mind Principle 13 of the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, there is a need to strengthen the implementation of existing international and regional agreements on marine pollution, with a view in particular to ensuring better contingency planning, response, and liability and compensation mechanisms;...”
